Sunday Skin Secrets: Simple Micellar Water

14:40:00 Unknown 1 Comments

In the beauty world micellar waters are a very hyped product, however it wasn't until recently that they've become quite readily available at the drugstore.

I believe Garnier were the first company to release theirs, which I haven't tried.
The brand that interested me was Simple.

I use quite a few different Simple products and generally love their skincare range.
There has only been one product by the brand that didn't agree with my skin, which was the eye make up remover.

Which leads me nicely onto my next point. This product is the only make up removing product I have ever been able to use on my eyes! This is a revelation to me! So if you have really sensitive eyes I would advise giving this a go! (Face wipes obviously work but I hate using them).

This product really has changed my skincare routine! I love it!
It's my go to product for removing make up & for beginning my nighttime routine. To me it's just perfect!
As it's by Simple it has no scent which I also really like, I think make up removers especially shouldn't have a scent.

Overall the only problem I have with this product is that the bottle isn't that big (200ml), I've finished a bottle in only a month...
Oops...
But that shows how much I've used it & love it!

Short hair styling!

17:26:00 Unknown 1 Comments

Nothing beats having a good hair day, am I right ladies?

I curled my hair this day & was having a GREAT hair day!
So this inspired me to film a video on how I curl my hair like this!
Unless you have or have had short hair you won't really understand the struggle it is to curl.

It can be difficult especially when wider curling wands just don't give the result you're look to achieve.

So for the tutorial check out the video below:

Bedtime Bits!

14:52:00 Unknown 0 Comments

We all have things that we can't go without on their bedside tables.
So I thought I would show you guys some of the items that are 'bedside staples' for me!

1. A Candle
I love burning candles especially when I'm in bed chilling in the evening. Whether I'm reading, blogging or just watching some tv, I just feel candles add a nice warmth to the room.
At the moment I'm burning an Ikea candle in the orange scent. Reece also has one of these on his bedside table, as he loves this scent too!

2. Apple TV Remote
I find that sometimes tv programming is pretty rubbish so I like to use my Apply TV a lot! I use it mostly to watch Netflix or Youtube videos! There are loads of other apps on there too but those are my most used. You can also watch any films you've rented or purchased on your App Store account.

3. Vaseline/ Lip Balm
I always like to keep a lip balm or tub of Vaseline on my bedside table as I like to apply some before I go to sleep. That way it has all night to moisturise my lips without me drinking or eating, which can rub it off. This also comes in extra handy if you're ill, as Vaseline can be used for anything.
Currently I'm using Vaseline Pink Bubbly.

4. Hand cream
Hand cream is again something I like to apply at night as it gives it time to sink into the skin. However I do also spend a lot of time in the day working sat on my bed so it's also handy (haha, get it) then too. At the moment I'm using Soap & Glory's Hand Food.
This hand cream is great as it is non-greasy.

5. A book
I don't read much these days, but I want to. So I've actively been trying to make myself read more. I find keeping a book on my bedside table encourages me to read more, even if it's just a few pages before I go to sleep. I sometimes find it makes me a little sleepy, where as sometimes watching tv keeps me awake. The book that I'm currently reading is The Glam Guide.

#ZestMustHaves

18:54:00 Unknown 0 Comments

Zest Beauty are a website that sell a variety of higher end beauty, skincare, haircare & body care products.
They've asked me to create a spring/ summer wish list from their website!

So here are some of the products I wish to purchase from their site:

1. St Tropez SPF 30 Face with Tan Enhancer (50ml)

I love the look of this product! As someone who is very pale I really need an SPF face cream, but the problem I have with a lot of them is that they stop you're face from tanning at all. So this looks great as it claims to be a tan enhancer too. This would be perfect for my holiday in Ibiza!

2. Moroccan Oil Light Oil Treatment (25ml)

Hair oils are a staple for me in life, I love them. However I have never tried this one & there is still quite a lot of hype around it in the beauty world. So as a blogger I'd really like to try it to see if it's worth the hype. I have selected the light one as I have heard that the normal one can be a little heavy for some people.

3. GlamGlow Supermud Face Mask (30ml)

This one would be a repurchase, in fact Zest Beauty is where I purchased it the first time round! They always have it on sale so it's cheaper than anywhere else! As most people know GlamGlow is notoriously expensive, so this lightens the blow a bit. I thought this product was great, it works really well for blackheads & spots and I love the smell of it too!

4. GlamGlow Powermud Duelcleanse Treatment (50g)

I haven't heard too much about this mask but the things I have heard have been really positive. This is the latest GlamGlow mask. It's meant to be a sort of all in one mask, which sounds great to me. You also get more product for a similar price, which is also interesting to me!

5. GHD V Gold Classic Styler

I'm long overdue some new straighteners and GHD are the biggest brand out there. A lot of people swear by them. These are also on sale at a reduced price on Zest Beauty which is great as they are quite expensive (£100+). However I feel like hot tools are somewhat an investment as they (should) last for a long time, so it's worth spending those extra few pounds.

6. Elemis Daily Redness Solution (Relief, 50ml)

This looked interesting to me for a few different reasons. The first being that whenever I go for a facial they always use Elemis on my skin and I really like the results. Also because I have some redness on my face which I really can't seem to shift so hopeful this could help. However this isn't cheap at £53, so if I could get a sample first that would be ideal.

Zest Beauty are definitely worth checking out as they have some real bargains, especially on GlamGlow, GHD & Dermalogica!

My Workout Playlist

16:19:00 Unknown 0 Comments

I'm one of those people that has to be listening to something when I'm working out/ exercising.
Whether its music, podcasts or youtube videos.

So this blog post is going to be covering my favourite things to listen to at the moment.

One thing is some content from Radio 1's essential mix, in fact the essential from back in March 2014 by Shadow Child (aka Dave Spoon).
He has to be one of my favourite DJs/ Producers so this two hour long mix is just ideal for me.
My favourite track on it has to be Geoff K - Dysturbed Trumpet.

I love listening to mixes as mixed tracks just sound better to me & you can just get on with your work out instead of having to stop to change songs.

I also like to listen to my partners mixes & radio shows, as he's a DJ.
I will link his DJ soundcloud here & his record company soundcloud here. All of his mixes & radio shows are FREE to download.
His radio shows are a weekly thing as well.
So I get to listen to different music every week if I want to.
Although I do have a few favourite shows!

I do also sometimes listen to just tracks or playlists but at the moment I prefer stuff that's already mixed!

Let me know what you like to listen to in the comment section below!

Lingerie loving wishlist

16:10:00 Unknown 0 Comments

Every woman likes nice lingerie.
Men also tend to like it too! Wink wink!

However there is always the struggle of getting sizes right & I always find that shops seem to carry a lot more small bra sizes than larger bra sizes (no offensive intended to anyone).

I would say I am more on the side of having a larger bust, so I found this great website called Clara Olivia that specialise in larger sizes.
They carry lingerie, swimwear & shapewear!

Here is a set that I think would look amazing on pretty much any woman!

How pretty is that!
And you know what there's some good support there too, ladies you know what I'm saying!

The sets can be purchased as separates so perfectly balanced proportions aren't necessary.
This is a site catering for real woman looking for perfect fitting lingerie! What more could you ask for?
They also carry a variety of brands, so check them out for all your busty needs!

Peppersmith Smiles!

19:28:00 Unknown 0 Comments

I never used to really eat mints, until I read in The Glam Guide that they are actually a lot better for more formal events and I have attend a few recently. Luckily just before these events these got posted through my letterbox. Good timing or what!

These are some mints & chewing gum for a company called Peppersmith.

Like I said I'm not one for mints or gum really but these are great. Why?
Because they are actually good for your teeth!

Peppersmith's products contain no sugar! Instead they use Xylitol, which is a naturally occurring sugar alternative. So firstly this means there are less calories in their products (up to 40% less) and Xylitol has also been linked to active dental health benefits!

Xylitol works by being absorbed by plaque causing bacteria so it can't multiply, which in turn prevents decay!
Sounds good to me!

Now onto the flavours, they come in three flavours. Peppermint (mints & gum), peppermint & eucalyptus and lemon & peppermint. My personal favourite is the lemon & peppermint, which sounds really odd but actually is really nice!

They also work out to be roughly the same price as any high street mints/ gum.

The Glam Guide

12:16:00 Unknown 0 Comments

Calling all make up, beauty, fashion, travel, blog lovers!
This is the book for you!

The Glam Guide by Fleur De Force.

If you're anything like me you kind of feel a bit like all these youtubers are writing books for the sake of it. However I decided to buy this one by Fleur as it actually sounded like it had some useful content in it.

I have to say firstly I love the layout of this book, I feel like it appeals to a very varied age range (approx 14 years - 25 years). It's written in a formal informative way which I like, I'm definitely not one for fiction or over personal writing styles.

The book covers a variety of topics from beauty to lifestyle. Really I feel like there is a section for everybody in this book. There is a nice mixture of photographs & illustrations which again I like a lot. It's full of little nuggets of wisdom & tips that would normally slip your mind, I personally have found it quite helpful reading this book.
I think a younger audience probably would benefit more from reading this book, simply because there are a lot of things in the book to save them from 'learning things the hard way'.

The chapters in the book include: Beauty, Hair, Fashion, Travel, Health & Foundation, Life etc & Blogging.

So if any of those things interest you I would advise picking up this book!

Setting Spray Showdown!

20:41:00 Unknown 0 Comments

Finding a good setting spray isn't always easy, as it goes not that many companies make them.
So I wanted to put some to the test.

This is the setting spray showdown!

The two sprays that are in the running are Urban Decay's All Nighter spray & MAC Fix+.

Both are from high end beauty brands & come in travel sizes as well.
They don't exactly claim to do the same things but let's see...

Products I don't reach for

17:35:00 Unknown 0 Comments

We all do that thing where we buy products randomly & realise they're nothing special.
So I decided it might be helpful to you guys if I showed you some of these products.

Some of them I have reached for on occasions but not massively.

Rimmel Apocalips Lip Lacquer.
I only have this in one shade and its a bright pink colour. To start with the colour just doesn't work for me. I also find they take forever to dry & with a lip lacquer that's not ideal. I also find the applicator holds far too much product so control is hard & it's not an easy product to remove if you over shoot it. I just feel there are much better lip lacquers out there.

Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain.
Again the colour is so wrong for me, it's too orange. However I also don't like the smell of this product and I think with lip products that's so important. I'm just not a fan of these balmy sticks. I don't find them all that hydrating and the colour selections trend to be really weird.

L'Oreal Paris Glam Shine Balmy Gloss.
This is very much the same as the Revlon stick, it's not that hydrating and the colour selection is again really weird.

Benefit The Big Easy BB Cream.
For a while last summer I loved this product but it really doesn't work for me when I haven't been on holiday (is that a good enough reason to go on more holidays??). So I do like this product but only really in the summer, partly due to the lack of coverage it gives and the colour I own.

Make Up Revolution I Tint My Brows.
I don't dislike this product I just find it a bit of hard work. It's one of them brow products with a wand but the problem is the wand is a bit too big/ thick. I sometimes use it to set my brows but I don't think the colour completely matches my brows either.

Benefit Dallas Blush.
I quite like this as a blush/ bronzer mixture but I think it breaks me out. I started using it a while ago and noticed some spots on my cheeks not long after. So I have since been very cautious about using it. I have some other Benefit blushes that my skin is fine though so it is a bit weird.

What products do you guys not reach for in your make up collection?

Boire Strips

20:45:00 Unknown 1 Comments

I think I can safely say that everyone hates blackheads!
We try all sorts of products to get rid of them but they are notoriously hard to get rid of.

So this leads me onto the Bioré Deep Cleansing Pore Strips.
These are a very talked about product in the beauty world for removing blackheads.

You can buy them as just nose strips or, as picture above, nose & face strips.

Personally I have very mixed feelings on this product. I feel like sometimes they work & sometimes they don't (sound weird I know)!
I think you have to have seriously BAD blackheads for this to work, but equally ones that aren't too embedded into the skin. The more embedded they are the hard it will be for the strip to stick to them.

They work in a very simple way though. You simply wet your skin and stick them on. Leave them for roughly 10 minute & pull them off! You can see if they've worked as you'll see the blackheads stuck to the strip.

The other thing that kind of bothers me about these is that they're aren't that cheap for what they are. They start from £7.99 for just the nose strips, this works out to be £1.33 a strip.

I find that a bit crap when they don't always work!

Anyway if you really struggle with blackheads I would advise giving them a go, but try & catch them on sale.

My Favourite Youtubers #1

19:00:00 Unknown 0 Comments

I love watching youtube videos, and it has become quite a large part of the media that I watch.
Even if I have it on as only background noise it's generally better content than daytime tv!

So here are some of my favourite youtubers:
(in no order)

Jenna Marbles
If you don't know who Jenna is, seriously where have you been? With a 15 million strong following she is one of Youtube's leading comedians. If you're in need of a good laugh check her out, she'll have you in stitches. I also love her boyfriend Julien who now has his own youtube channels.

ThatcherJoe/ ThatcherJoeVlogs
Thatcher Joe aka Joe Sugg (yes Zoella's brother) is another person who has me in stitches. He's just hilarious and over 4 million others must agree with me. He's also quite attractive, ladies.
If you like prank videos and comedy I suggest you check out his videos.

Nicole Guerriero
This girl is seriously my long term woman crush. I love her make up & hair tutorials and her personality! Again she's someone who makes me laugh. I sometimes feel with youtubers they can come across as 'fake' but not Nicole, she's just real. Her Halloween tutorials are also amazing.

There will be a part two to this post as I have far too many favourites for just one!
Who are your favourite youtubers?

Barry M Contour Kit

13:25:00 Unknown 0 Comments

Contouring is all the rage right now. Make up companies being make up companies have jumped on this & now everyone is bringing out contouring sets.
However I haven't seen much at the drugstore, apart from this!

This is the Barry M Flawless Chisel Cheeks Contour Kit.

This kits retails for only £6.49, which is a lot more reasonable than some of the higher end kits.

The question is though does it work?
Generally I'd say Barry M don't do well on the make up front, I love their nail polishes but their make up just isn't quite up to the job usually.

I say usually because I actually really like this kit!
It has three shades in it, one highlight and two contour. It does also have some instructions on the inside cover of the packaging too for those of you who aren't contouring pros.

The highlight shade is the one thing that I think lets this kit down a bit, I can use it as it's not too dark (usually they are) but I just don't reach for it as it's about the same as my skin tone & not lighter.
The middle shade is quite a warm matte bronze shade, which I would say it best used as a bronzer or two aid in blending your contour.
The third shade (on the right) is a more cool toned contour shade which I find really nice to use for my contour. It looks quite dark but it doesn't come up too dark as even pale old me can use it.

The powders are easy to blend and feel really finely milled which is great.
I also get quite a long wear time out of this powder, approximately 10 hours.

So for me this is a win product!
Cheap, works, suitable for pale skin & long wearing!

So if you're looking to try a contour kit but don't want to break the bank give this one a try.

Tips for making business cards

14:18:00 Unknown 0 Comments

No matter what business you own/ run you need business cards.
They are an essential for networking.

So here are some tips when it comes to making business cards:

1. Shop around for the best deal.
You generally need to buy in bulk with business cards so shop around to see what printing sites are offering the best deal & value for money. Vistaprint is usually pretty good value, they also offer a lot of different design ideas (front & back printing etc).

2. Choose your quantity wisely.
Don't over order because you may not find yourself giving cards out every other minute. Also if you'd like to change the design or info it's a waste to throw out hundreds of old cards.

3. Choose your design wisely.
A lot of sites have preset designs which can work perfectly or you can opt to have something more personal & unique to your business on them. Choose whatever best represents you & your business.

4. Make sure you spell check.
Before placing you're order definitely proof read, even if it's just an email & phone number.

5. Make sure you're not planning on changing any info.
If you're planning on changing your website url or phone number, hold off on your cards until you do so. There's nothing worse than wrong information on business cards, it can actually lose you work!

H2O+

17:34:00 Unknown 0 Comments

We all need water, especially for our skin!
Hydration is an essential part to healthy & glowing skin.

Which is the focus of the brand H2O+'s hydrating treatment.

This is only a sample size of the product however it has lasted me for ages. With this product I feel like a little goes a long way.

This treatment is a blue gel, it also feels like it has a cooling effect to it. I apply this to clean damp skin and leave it to sink into my face. I do find it somewhat hydrating, however I have combo/ oily skin so I feel like my skin doesn't crave hydration very often.
I do make a point of using this every couple of weeks though, because your doesn't have to be dry to need moisture/ hydration.

I feel like at the time it makes me skin feel better, partly because of the cooling feeling. However I'm not 100% sure I see much when I wake up the next morning. Maybe it's just meant for a short-term boost of hydration, I'm not sure.

This product retails for $36 (so approx. £24), personally I'd say it isn't worth that for someone of my skin type. If you have dry skin try & pick up a sample first!

Fragrance Lovin' #1

20:02:00 Unknown 0 Comments

Fragrances! I love them!
Hence this blog post!

This is Tommy Hilfiger Loud (hers). I picked this fragrance up a while ago and it was an absolute bargain at £8 for 40ml!

Primarily I got this fragrance just because it was such a great offer, however over the last year it has become my staple fragrance.

It's an eau de toilette, so it's not as potent as a perfume. However I still feel like this fragrance lasts for hours! Better than some of my proper perfumes!

The notes include rose & patchouli. When I say rose, I don't mean old lady rose scent if you know what I mean.
I find it to be quite a light day to night fragrance. It's not too heavy for the daytime but it also isn't so light and casual that it's not enough for the evening. I like to wear this fragrance when I'm working as I feel it's ideal for this sort of situation. It isn't too offensive but it still says I've made an effort with my fragrance.

I feel like this is quite an underrated fragrance!
I swear it reminds me of a Gucci fragrance too, so it could be a bit of a dupe.

You can pick it up at Debenhams for £27.50.
So if you're looking for a nice daytime fragrance I'd definitely recommend it!

Real Techniques Contour & Sculpt

14:50:00 Unknown 1 Comments

These are Real Techniques latest launch of brushes, a limited edition contour & sculpt set.

First of all I'd like to say that I love the metallic pink handles! So cute!

So onto the brushes, Real Techniques brushes are all synthetic, which I personally prefer. When you clean them they tend to come up cleaner and I feel like they generally last longer too!

I already have quite a few Real Techniques brushes and love them! Some I use everyday & have done for two years+ and they're still like new, no shedding, nothing!
So I was very keen to get my hands on this set.

And I have to say these are just as amazing! The brushes are ridiculously soft, even after a good few washes & just overall great quality.
The set includes a fan brush, which is ideal for sweeping highlighter onto the high points of the face. A sculpting brush for contouring, which is great as it's really dense and more long than round. Then lastly a setting brush for setting the under eye concealer. However if you really wanted to you could use this brush for a more defined and sharp contour.

With how popular contouring is right now, I think this is a great launch and a perfect set that would fit perfectly in anyone's brush collection!

Top marks from me Sam & Nic!

This set is exclusive to Superdrug & retails for £20.99!

Ikea Storage Ideas

18:20:00 Unknown 0 Comments

If you have any interest in beauty you will know about these amazing storage units.
These are Ikea's Alex Drawers.
They come in two different sizes, a nine drawer (pictured below) & a five drawer.

These first of all are just the perfect size storage for make up, skincare, body care, hair tools & everything else! The drawers come in two different depths which is very useful.

To go into more detail lets have a look inside them. So here you can see that I have found a divider that fits quite nicely (not perfectly) into the shallower drawers. This is also from Ikea, its a plastic cutlery divider. However it is longer than the drawers so I did have to cut it down.

If you're looking for something to stop smaller products rolling around this is perfect!
I don't have these in all of drawers because they do use up a bit of space themselves but I do have them in two drawers containing my make up.

So if you're thinking of picking up the Alex drawers it's definitely something to think about whilst you're in Ikea.
