What makes a good model?

19:08:00 Unknown 0 Comments

A lot of young women these days are turning to modelling as a career.
Which is great! I'm all about supporting self-employed people!

However modelling isn't as easy as it looks!

It might look like it's a few hours of just looking pretty in front of a camera, but this could not be more wrong.

So I'm going to start with saying a good model does their prep. Once they get a booking they will then talk with the photographer/ client & find out the photo shoot concept & brief. This allows them time to buy clothing items, props, plan their hair & make up accordingly.

Another sign of a good model is them arriving on time for shoots & ready. Like everything time is money. So if they've done their make up & hair before arriving at a shoot they're pretty much ready to shoot straight away.

Also a good model doesn't just stand in front of the camera. They pose & move rhythmically into the next pose. If you get the chance to watch a good model working you'll know what I mean. They know their body so well they know which angles are flattering & which are a big no no!
They will also model head to toe not forgetting to pose even their little finger.

These are just a few things that are an indicator of a good model.
As a photographer you get to know the good from the not so good.

So if you are thinking of doing some modelling, do your research & practice!

If I Only Had Five Shoes...

15:36:00 Unknown 0 Comments

I saw this video on Evelina's youtube channel & loved the sound of it!
So I wanted to film my own version of 'If I Had Five Shoes'.

So here are the five pairs of shoes I chose, if I could only have have five.

The first pair are my Topshop wedges, these are my most comfort heels & it's always good to have a wedge in your wardrobe!

The second pair are wedges too but in the form of a hidden heel. These are my much loved Nike Sky High Dunks. I wear these everyday, literally everyday! I cannot live without them!

The third pair are another pair of Nike's, these are my running trainers. I picked these because what else would I wear to workout? Plus the arch support in these is great & essential for me.

The fourth pair are my only pair of designer shoes, which are my Jimmy Choo's. These are such a classic style of shoe, it's hard to say no.

The last pair are my Kurt Geiger Carvela heels with the crystals on the heel, just because well they're gorgeous & they fit really nicely.

Pout Paint

11:38:00 Unknown 0 Comments

I think this year is the year of trying new brands. As this is another 'first product' by the brand Sleek.
Sleek is UK available drugstore brand.

This product is meant to be similar to the OCC Lip Tars, it's a liquid lipstick style product but in a squeezy tube.

Firstly the packaging although small and compact can be a bit of a pain as you only need the tiniest amount of this product and it's easy to squeeze out too much. So be warned, go with the saying 'less is more'.

They have a mix of natural & bright colour so if you're a make up artist these could be a great option.
The product also has an oily base to it, so it's quite a nourishing non-drying formula.

The wear time is pretty good, I would say at least 4 - 6 hours wear. Which I'd say is about average for a liquid lipstick. It doesn't seem to break up as much or as quickly as some other liquid lipsticks I've tried, I would imagine this is due to the oil base.

It's a little difficult to remove, however I find that micellar water does the best job!

What's in my Clutch Bag

14:57:00 Unknown 0 Comments

I love watching 'What's in my Bag' videos on youtube, but it's not very often people show us inside their clutch bags. So that's the topic of today's video!

My current favourite clutch bag is this nude one from River Island (I think it's still available on their website).
It's a great size, some clutch bags are just ridiculously small & useless as you can't fit anything in them.

So onto some of the things I have in my clutch bag:
- ID - my driving license.
- Money & Cards
- My iPhone
- Eye Drops
- Hand Sanitiser
- Lip Liner
- Lip Gloss
- Benadryl
- Mini Perfume
- Business Cards

What do you guys think? Am I missing anything I really need? Or is it all a bit too much?

Naobay Moisturising Peel

11:24:00 Unknown 0 Comments

Do you ever receive a product a feel a bit scared of it (sounds silly I know, haha)?
This is one of those products, I think it's the word 'peeling' & the fact that I'd never heard of this brand before.

This is the Naobay Moisturizing Peeling.

So was I right to be scared??

No, it's actually not that scary, however I do want to note that there are absolutely no instructions on how to to use this product on the packaging. Which I find a bit weird. So I actually googled it & it said to damp the face, gently massage in then wash off.

It has some kind of sandy beads (probably microbeads), which sound quite harsh however if you are gentle they aren't harsh at all. I really like products like this as they really feel like they're cleaning your face.

The product itself is actually quite watery which makes it a little messy to work with, but it's manageable. It also has a very strong orange scent, which I actually don't mind.

As for the results of this product, after using it I instantly noticed that my skin was incredibly smooth & really soft! If you have sensitive skin it can leave you looking a little red for a short period after. However blood coming to the surface of the skin isn't a bad thing!
I also noticed that my blackheads & pores looked reduced after using this, which is a quality I look for in most skincare products.

Overall I'm really starting to like this product & plan to add it into my regular skincare routine!

How I Edit Instagram Photos

14:27:00 Unknown 0 Comments

These days you can't just post a standard from the 'back of the camera' (or iPhone for that matter of fact) photo to Instagram.

I love editing photos in general, so editing Instagram photos is a must for me!
Partly because I love doing it & also to make them look 100x better.

So some of the apps I use include, Afterlight, PicFrame, Phonto & more.

Below is a tutorial on how I edit different photos for Instagram:

Blogging Essentials

14:58:00 Unknown 0 Comments

I've been running my blog for over a year now & I feel like it's only just being to grow.
I think it's all about getting a winning formula together (something I'm still working on).

I'm very active on my blog, as I like to provide you guys with a lot of good content regularly.

So I thought it would be worth showing you guys what my blogging essentials are!

1. Apple Laptop
I have been a Mac user for many years & love them. Sorry to any windows fans out there but it is all personal preference & budget. I am constantly on my Macbook either working on photography stuff or blog/ youtube projects. It is my 'hub' of productively, without it I'd get very little done!
This laptop is what I also edit my blog photos (Adobe Photoshop) & youtube videos (Final Cut Pro) on.

2. iPhone 6
My iPhone is basically an extension of my laptop, when I'm out & about it's the way I keep up to date with all of my social media. It also allows me to communicate with you guys on the go too! I also use it to take & edit my Instagram photos & occasionally my blog photos if for whatever reason I can't use my DSLR camera.

3. Nikon D7100
This is the camera that I use to take my blog photos. It produces amazing high quality images & being a photographer means I can produce some cool/ creative stuff. I take all of my photos in the Manual setting as that's my preferred setting, so I can change any settings (ISO, Shutter speed, etc) I need to according to the lighting I have available at the time.

4. Products
Products, now this one kind of goes without saying but without products to photograph, review & write about generally you are very limited on content. Especially if you're running a beauty based blog.

5. Artificial lighting
This isn't pictured above as I was using it to take the photo, but I like to use artificial lighting quite often to achieve the style & lighting I want in my blog photos. This isn't necessary if you can find some where with great natural light but I just find it makes for a more professional like to the photos. I like to use an LED ring light most of the time & shoot through the gap.

So onto you guys, what would you say are your blog essentials?
Let me know in the comments!

Tripod Showdown

12:26:00 Unknown 0 Comments

Whether you're a photographer, a youtuber, a blogger, whoever. You need a tripod.
I really couldn't imagine not owning one to be honest, I use them daily!

So here's the question, which style of tripod do you go for?
I'm putting a lightweight tripod to the test against a standard heavier duty one, to see which one is the one you should be putting your money into & why.

Mesauda Desert Sand Bronzer

16:10:00 Unknown 0 Comments

I'm always on the hunt for the perfect bronzer, as a pale person this can be very difficult!

So I was excited to try this baked bronzer by Mesauda. It's their Desert Sand Baked Bronzer in Terra Cotta.

Firstly the packaging although simple looks really nice & feels really sturdy. However it is a little big due to how the baked product sits in the pan & also because you get 7g of product too!
Overall though I like it.

The product itself looks really pretty as it's a mineralised baked powder. It does also have some visible flecks of glitter in it, but not a lot. These flecks you can sometimes see on your face once you've applied the product but it's definitely not a glitter ball effect!

The bronzer also has no significant smell to it.

You can see below the swatch of the bronzer. It is quite a warm tone, so I'd advise only using it to bronze & warm up the face. It's definitely not a cool enough tone to contour with.
It's also quite a light shade so women of colour might struggle to use it as a bronzer, however they could potentially use it as a highlighter as it is a little shimmery.

At the moment I like this bronzer, however I am still quite pale. I think after my holiday I will love this product & even during my holiday. I do plan on taking it with me.
A warning though, it is quite soft, so it might not travel too well.

I can do a little update on that for you once I've been away if you'd like though!
Just comment below & let me know.

Gluten Free Snacks

12:28:00 Unknown 0 Comments

As someone who has to be gluten free it can be hard to snack, as most things you'd consider a normal 'snack' has gluten in it!
So I've had to find different thing to snack on throughout the day. With this diet I feel like I snack more as gluten free foods aren't as filling as normal foods, so it's important to pick snacks wisely.

I try to have bigger meals so that I stay fuller for longer, however sometimes I do find myself looking in the cupboards for a quick snack. So here's some of my favourite things to have when I'm feeling a bit peckish between meals:

1. Fruit
I try to get some of my five a day in when it comes to snacks, so picking up a piece of fruit is ideal. My favourite fruit to have are raspberries or strawberries, followed by bananas.

2. Corn Thins
Very similar to rice cracks/ thins apart from my nutritionist said I can't have rice, so I have to have the corn version instead. These do seem a little boring but you can put things on them like spreads or smoked salmon etc.

3. Kale Chips
These seem to be the 'it' thing at the moment, however for me they're just an alternative to crisps (chips if you're American). Most crisps contain gluten, but I sometimes miss the crunchy texture as a snack. This is where kale chips come in. Kale also has great health benefits.

4. Cupcakes
Now you're probably all thinking, doesn't that completely contradict the above items. Well I say we all deserve a treat or 'cheat' snack every now & again. This is my favourite thing to have, a cupcake. I recently found a local bakery that produce & buying in loads of gluten free items & these cupcakes are one of them. Honestly you wouldn't even know they're gluten free! They taste AMAZING!

Let me know your favourite gluten free snacks below, so I can try them too!

Check out the vide for some extra snacks!

Fragrance Lovin #4

10:16:00 Unknown 0 Comments

I am such a sucker for fragrance, if you guys hadn't already noticed from this series!
Sooo, we're going to be talking about another favourite of mine.

This time we're going to be talking the original Roberto Cavalli fragrance.
He does have some others out but this one is the original & in my opinion the best!

If you like a good strong fragrance this is one for you! It packs a good punch & really lasts (even through showers). This is definitely an evening fragrance for me, as it's a little too strong for the daytime in my opinion. Due to it being so strong it means a little goes a long way, hence why it looks like I've barely used this perfume.
They only offer an eau de perfum in the Cavalli fragrances so the price is the price, there isn't a cheaper eau de toilette alternative. However I don't think this fragrance would work as an eau de toilette.

The notes of this fragrance are orange flower, plum, pink peppercorn, green mandarin & roasted tonic beans creating a balsamic floral scent.
It's a warm & seductive scent which I think is wearable for a wide age range.

It's definitely worth having a sniff when you're next in a perfume retailer.

Blackhead Busting Products

12:44:00 Unknown 1 Comments

Blackheads, I hate them, you hate them, we all hate them.
They are also a right pain to get rid of too!

So I wanted to talk a bit about some of my favourite products to get rid of blackheads & reduce visible pores.

The first product I like to use & the very first step in my everyday skincare routine is the Neutrogena Blackhead Eliminating daily scrub. I have been using this product for years & whenever I try to use other scrubs I hate them and just go straight back to this. This suits my skin perfectly.
It's a scrub that's not too harsh but still cleans your face deep down.
This product has micro beads in it to help remove blackheads and remove grease from blocking any pores. This is why I also find it prevents me from getting many spots.

The second product is the Biore Deep Cleasning Pore Strips, when these works (they're a bit hit & miss) they're great. You apply the strips to problem areas with blackheads, leave them for approximately 10 minutes then rip them off quickly. This results in them pulling blackheads clean off your face and the proof is on the strip!

Both of these products are available at the drugstore too!

The last product is the GlamGlow Clearing Treatment mask. I like to use this just on my blackhead areas & spots, as it is an expensive mask. I find this is great for reducing pores and removing blackheads. After I've used this mask my skin just looks brighter, clearer & cleaner!

Check out the video here:

Horsey Holy Grail - Coconut Oil

09:55:00 Unknown 0 Comments

With everything I do, I like to tie in all of my interests.
If you guys didn't know, I have a horse & having been horse riding for many years.

This also seems to be a topic I haven't seen many blogs cover!

So onto the product I want to talk about...
Coconut oil!

Coconut oil is a holy grail in general for a lot of people, I don't use it much for myself. My horse however...

My horse has very pink skin (he's an Appaloosa colour, so it's a mixture of black & pink) and this means the minute the ground dries out he gets scabby skin. Specifically on his fetlocks, which is not ideal. What can make this worse is if the horse over reaches too, which my horse does sometimes.

I didn't really know what to use on them, as a lot of products we've used in the past haven't worked that well. Some of the products we have been recommended & used in the past have also had a lot of strong chemicals in them, which I don't like the idea of much.
So I decided to go all natural & try coconut oil!

It is amazing stuff!
It's completely got rid of any scabs on his first fetlocks & reduced them significantly on his back fetlocks. We still apply it daily to keep the fetlocks moist & prevent new scabs forming, but it seems to be working at keeping them at bay.

He also has been suffering with some mild sweet itch and the coconut oil has eased that too!
He's pretty much stopped scratching both his tail & mane.

New In My Make Up Bag #4

14:58:00 Unknown 1 Comments

It's time for another quick look inside my make up bag!

I have a few things I'm using a lot at the moment, so it's only fair to tell you guys about them.

Vaseline Pink Bubbly.
I've had this for a good while now but Vaseline tubs in general are a great thing to keep with you! This one I love because it has a really nice scent to it & it isn't tinted. I like the tinted ones but you can only really use them on the lips & I sometimes like to use Vaseline on other areas on the go (i.e. cuticles, elbows , knees).

L'Oreal Skin Perfection.
This product is a bit weird as it isn't labelled what it is but I use it like a primer. It has a really good blurring effect & minimises the appearance of pores.

Benefit Ultra Plush in Fauxmance.
This lip gloss is a new favourite! I got it in my Benefit Advent Calendar & only recently discovered how great it is. It's a great nude colour for me. I also like to layer this on top of either my Mac Lip Liner in Dervish or my new Kate Moss nude lipstick in 45.

MUA Blush in English Rose.
This is one of those blushes that I really don't reach for but I should. It's a bargain product that's for sure. I've had it a while so am making a point of using it but it goes off. Although I'm sure powder products last for ages!

No7 Lipstick in Chic.
This lipstick was one I actually got give by my mom, as she didn't use it. And I love it!
I am all about the nude lips at the moment & this is a really nice colour. The formulation of this lipstick is always amazing. It's not overly glossy and also very moisturising which is right up my street! Love love love!

Holiday Haul!

12:01:00 Unknown 0 Comments

It's almost time for my holiday!
So that means one thing.. I've been shopping.

These are things I've purchased over time, hence the title 'collective' haul.
I have also only purchased items I really needed, because I really didn't want to over buy this year.

So this year I've tried to be efficient.

Any of the products in the video that are still available will be linked in the down bar, if you are interested in buying them!

PS. everything is not pictured above, so I'd advise checking out the video below.

The Gym Bunny

10:10:00 Unknown 2 Comments

'The gym bunny, is female creature that inhabits only gyms & lives in activewear.'
They are a creature I admire, primarily for their commitment!

Fitness is still a massive lifestyle trend, for women more so than ever before.

A while ago (approximately 2 years) I was one of these 'gym bunnies', I used to work out every day without fail & had better abs than most men!
However as our lives change over time how sustainable is this lifestyle trend?

By no means am I saying don't exercise, because the benefits can be amazing (when done properly & affectively). However I just find these days that I don't have the time to commit to the gym everyday.

In fact I don't really want to look quite as athletic as I used to want to.
However I do still have so much respect for anyone who achieves their body goals.

I personally feel for me a balance of work, fitness & fun is the lifestyle that suits me & my needs.
I still think fitness is super important, however at the moment some health issues I'm dealing with need sorting befire I set any intense work out schedules.

How do you guys feel about this trend?
Are you into it or do you feel like it adds to the many pressures women face today?

Sea Breeze Delight

12:39:00 Unknown 0 Comments

I think a bit of candle talk is long overdue guys! Don't you?

So my current obsession is this Ikea candle It's always hard with Ikea candles because they don't have names. However this one I like to call Sea Breeze, as that's what the smell reminds me of.

The scent is lovely soft yet slightly salty coconut scent.
Basically the smell of holiday!

Who doesn't look that smell?

If you guys read my blog much you'll know by now that I love things that smell of coconut anyway.
Coconut & vanilla are just perfect to me!

They re-formulated these candles last year & I have to say since they have been 100% better. They burn really evenly, last for up to 40 hours, are cheap & smell amazing!
What more could you ask for from a candle.

I think the main thing I like about these candles, is that they are so damn cheap for their size. These candles last me for ages & I burn candles pretty regularly. I love more luxurious candles however I see them as a bit of a treat as I don't always like spending a lot on candles. So these Ikea ones are perfect if you love having a lot of candles around but don't want to break the bank!

I would definitely recommend!

Day Out Essentials

14:14:00 Unknown 1 Comments

If I'm going out for the day there are some things that I know I just can't be without!

So here they are, they range from make up to iPhone apps!

1. Hand Maid hand sanitiser
Hand sanitiser is a must for me at all time really, especially on a day out.
You never know when you're next going to find a bathroom or sink, so hand sanitiser is ideal. If you plan on eating out, you should definitely be carrying some of this.
My favourite is this Hand Maid one by Soap & Glory as it smells really nice!

2. Sunglasses
I have really light sensitive eyes so sunglasses are must at all times.
These are just some cheap ones from Boohoo.com, I don't tend to spend loads on sunglasses because I get through so many pairs & lose so many.

3. Nude Lipstick
I always carry a nude lipstick with me, as lipstick is always the one make up product that wears off really quickly. I opt for a nude as I can easily apply a nude lipstick without a mirror & they tend to go with any make up look.

4. Lip Balm
Lip balm is something everyone should have on them, preferably one with SPF. You just never know when you're going to get dry/ chapped lips. If you have one that isn't tinted it can act as a multi-use product.

5. Face Wipes
As a 'just in case' I like to take face wipes with me on days out. They are great to wipe anything down really.

6. Suncream
Especially in the summer months it's ideal to take some form of suncream with you, if you can get a mini sized one brilliant but they're not that easy to find. I always use a suncream which is SPF30 or higher as I am fair.

7. Body Spray
Perfume can sometimes be a little intense for the daytime so I like to use & carry a body spray on days out. You can be a bit more literal with them, but it's important to remain smelling lovely throughout your day.

8. Trip Advisor
I use Trip Advisor a lot. I don't just use it for recommendations when I'm out & about I also like to write reviews on there too! It's a website for anyone who is into travelling. You can find reviews on attractions, restaurants, hotels & more!
