Let's get healthy - Week 2 & 3

12:21:00 Unknown 1 Comments

So I forgot to do my health update last week so I'm going to combine this week & last week.

I have been continuing with the diet by having more vegetables, fish & other good stuff!
I have been drinking less alcohol and drinking water along side it when I have been out.
(Which I strongly advise to everyone, that way you remember the night & don't wake up with a hang over.)

I also mentioned in the previous post about the vitamins I have started taking, below is a photo of them. The box on the right are also my eye drops, which have really been helping my eyes. I have been religiously taking these, which is good for me because I get really lazy with taking vitamins.

I also have been trying to continue exercising at least one/twice a week. I think last week I only exercised once, but I plan on making up for it this week.

I haven't exactly taken up walking but I have been getting out more and doing more stuff around the yard. So just generally being more active in the daytime.

So overall I think I'm doing pretty well, I could still be doing more but for now I'm already feeling better for making these little changes.
I also have a follow up appointment with doctor next week to find out what's going on internally.

January lovin'

19:38:00 Unknown 0 Comments

Seeing as it's the last week of January that means it's time for my January favourites!
This month I have a variety of products from health to books, with some beauty thrown in there too of course.

However there seems to be a theme with the beauty products. Three out of four are by the brand Urban Decay!
What can I say though, they're a great brand.

I do actually have a full blog post review of the hair oil I mention, here.

Scent Alert!

19:15:00 Unknown 0 Comments

I realised the other day that I seem to have a problem... Buying candles!

But they smell sooo good & I love lying in bed with just a candle lit.
Who doesn't right?!

These candles are mostly Ikea & Yankee candles (sorry guys no Bath & Body Works), because they are my favourite brands.

They are both different though, Ikea are very budget friendly whilst Yankee are more luxury.
So there's something for everyone!

Pore-formance report

13:24:00 Unknown 1 Comments

I'm sure if you're even slightly into make up you will have heard the hype about this product!

This is the Benefit Porefessional!

This product has been a lot of people's 'holy grail' for a while, sadly not for me though.

I'm not going to beat around the bush here, I just feel like it doesn't do a lot!
And with it's £24.50 price tag I feel it's ridiculously overpriced!

So here's why I'm not a fan:

First off this product has a very strong and rather unpleasant smell.
But that's not all, I feel like you have to use quite a lot of this if you place it all over the face because it doesn't seem to go very far.

I will say I do see some blurring/ pore minimising effect when I pat the product in, especially on my nose.
So it does work. I just don't feel that it does enough to warrant the price!

I personally prefer the L'Oreal Skin Perfection Primer, which is £10 cheaper than this product!

Let's talk.. Tea!

19:19:00 Unknown 0 Comments

Since seeing a private doctor I have been making some dietary changes, one being drinking more water. However she also advised trying herbal teas.

So that's what I have decided to do!

I had heard of Tea Pigs before and decided to try some of their flavours!

There is a story behind why I have so many samples!
Basically they got my order wrong and as a way to say sorry they sent me some samples. So they get a 10/10 for customer service from me!

Benefit Beauty Advent.. Worth the hype?

18:22:00 Unknown 0 Comments

I missed out on the Benefit Beauty advent calendar in 2013, so I was determined to get my hands on one in 2014!

I was so excited for this calendar, but at approximately £65 it wasn't a cheap buy.

And you know what, I was pretty disappointed with it!
In the photos below you see six gifts from the calendar that have absolutely nothing to do with Benefit Cosmetics! They are cheap 'filler' product they have just put their name on.

I don't want to go into too much detail on here, as that is the point of the video below.
Although below is a photo of all the actually Benefit products you get (plus two skincare products, samples of their eye cream & face cream).

So I strongly advise if you're planning on buy one this year either for yourself or for anyone else, watch the video below.
I'm not saying all beauty advent calendars are like this, I'm just saying the Benefit one isn't quite all it's cracked up to be!

The £1 lipstick

14:48:00 Unknown 0 Comments

I have another Make Up Revolution review for you guys.
Sorry, but I definitely thought it was worth a little review seeing as it's only £1!

So it has to be said, it's obviously worth the money. The real question really is, is it worth collecting these or just spending a bit more on better lipsticks?
So lets get down to the nitty gritty!

First things first, I think it's probably best to try & purchase these from a shop (I believe they're sold in Superdrug in the UK). Simply because the swatches on their website aren't very true to colour, from my experience anyway.

I thought this colour was going to be more of a pinky nude but it's not very nude at all.
This colour is also quite shimmery which I'm not a big fan of either to be honest.

The wear time of this lipstick isn't that great, but at £1 I guess it doesn't really matter if you have to take it with you & re-apply.

I also advise making sure you've scrubbed your lips & applied lip balm before using this lipstick, otherwise it will cling to EVERY dry patch.
Which always makes them look 100x more obvious, not good!

The smell is surprisingly decent for such a cheap lipstick, a sort of vanilla smell which I quite like.
The taste sadly isn't as nice though, haha.

Definitely a good product that's a bargain, buttt it's nothing groundbreaking.
Just cheap & cheerful!

Glossy January..

21:42:00 Unknown 0 Comments

We are into a new month and with that comes... A Glossybox!

This is the last of my three gifted Glossyboxes, however I have continued another three month plan.
I think these boxes are a great way to try products you didn't even know about! I've also had some really good stuff in my previous boxes!

However with this box I somewhat feel like they've missed the mark, for me anyway.
Some of these products I'm not sure fit the details I gave them regarding my skin type etc.

I'll see how the products go, you never know I might love them! We'll just have to wait & see!

Let's get Healthy - Week 1

16:17:00 Unknown 0 Comments

So last week I posted about getting healthy & fit in this post.
A week has gone by now and I wanted to post a little update. I do plan on doing weekly updates, that way I hopefully can keep motivated!

So I have almost fully recovered from my throat infection, which is good.
I have also been to a private hospital about what the hell is going on with me. So I think things are on the up. They've done some tests, I'm now just waiting on results. They have also given me some vitamins & eye drops to take.

I have also been making some dietary changes too, partly due to what the private doctor told me.
I have been eating less sugary foods and more vegetables/ fruit.
I still am not drinking fizzy drinks much, maybe the odd glass of pepsi or something.

With regards to exercise, I didn't do any last week due to the throat infection. However this week I have done some bodyweight toning exercise and a little bit of yoga.

So overall I think I have done pretty well over the last week. Next week I aim to do a bit more exercise and just keep everything up. I have also been advised to take up walking which I plan on starting next week.

Best of the Gadgets 2014!

12:04:00 Unknown 0 Comments

Secretly, well it's no secret really, I'm a bit of a geek!
I love techy gadgets, especially camera related stuff!

So I have decided to do a 'best of' video dedicated just to the gadgets.

Most of these gadgets are photography related, but they do all vary in price.
So don't think it's all professional equipment that's thousands of pounds!

I did purchase a new camera this year so that obviously couldn't be missed out. My Nikon D7100 is actually the camera I use to film my videos and photograph things for my blog so I had to get out my good old D5100 to photograph & video!

Cheeky little find!

13:11:00 Unknown 0 Comments

If you guys follow either my blog or my youtube channel you will have seen this product in a recent haul video.
There are quite a few companies these days that sell contour kits like this but I'm not sure many sell them for only £3.50!

Make Up Revolution is a drugstore brand (in line with MUA, ELF and other brands with £1 products) that seems to have come out of nowhere in 2014 and become quite popular in the UK.
Hence why I decided to get in on the hype and order some stuff! I managed to pick up about 6/7 products and spent only around £20!

So onto the product..
This is the Ultra Sculpt & Contour Kit in Ultra Fair (C01).

So in this kit you get a matt bronzer, highlighter & blusher.

The bronzer I do really like, this ultra fair shade is great for us pale folk. There is absolutely no glitter in it, which I love! Out of the three products in this kit the bronzer is definitely my favourite! Although it doesn't blend quite as easy as some of my higher end bronzers, but that's to be expected really.

The highlighter is probably my least favourite of these products, simply because I feel it's a bit too glittery to use on the top of my cheekbones. It looks great as a brow bone highlight though!

The blusher kind of reminds me of Benefit's Rockateur blush with it's somewhat rose gold colour. However it's performance couldn't be anymore different. I kind of like this blush but I feel the gold glitter in it has more pigment than the pink base. So when you build up the pigment on your cheeks it can get a bit too glittery, which some may love but I however don't!

The highlighter and blush in this kit are honestly down to your personally preference! Some of you might love them and for only £3.50 I definitely think it's worth a try!

Best of the Rest!

11:47:00 Unknown 0 Comments

I could have combined this with my 'best of beauty' video, however it would have made that video sooo long!
So I decided to put skincare, bodycare and haircare all together in one video.

There are only a few products from each category, hence why I decided to put them all in one video!
But this just means I can tell you guys more about each of these great items.

Most of these products are ones I've discovered this year and just haven't been able to put down!
Unless I find some pretty awesome stuff this year I don't think I will be able to do another video like this next year!
I've very much one of those people who sticks to things they like once they've found them.

I hope you guys enjoy the video!

Let's get Healthy!

17:38:00 Unknown 0 Comments

(Insert flexed arm emoji!)

So this is the second year in a row where I have entered the new year with a throat infection, not cool!
I seem to keep getting these throat infections and to be honest I pretty damn sick of them! I've had immune tests and apparently my immune system is fine. So now the doctors have decided there's nothing they can do, I think it's time to try my own method of preventing these throat infection!

I know a lot of you will see this as a 'new years resolution' that I won't end up going through with, but if this works it will become a lifestyle that's worth keeping up!
This is partly why I'm blogging about this! I feel like by regularly blogging about my journey/ progress I will keep it up.

I read this interesting article this morning, linked here.

So my plan is basically to eat a little less junk food & fizzy drinks, drink more water to keep hydrated and to exercise more.

I have already been cutting out fizzy drinks as they don't seem to help my currently bad throat, so that part is simple enough. So that's one point down already :)
Sadly, I currently don't feel up to exercising so I plan on starting that next week.

These targets aren't so much about changing my body, it's more to help build my immune system, so I stop becoming so ill so frequently!

Here is a recent photo of how I look at the moment, just so you guys can see the changes to my body which are likely to occur.

Best of Beauty 2014!

13:19:00 Unknown 0 Comments

So it is that time of year where we ditch the monthly favourites and go for the yearly ones!
I haven't done this before so it's quite a long video, so grab a snack or two!

For now we are just talking make up, however I do plan on doing some other 'Yearly Favourites' videos this week.

I have tried to keep it so I only have one favourite per product, however with some I just couldn't decide (sorry)!
I've covered everything from lip balm to false lashes!

So I hope you guys enjoy the video and don't find it too long!
