Super Casual Style

18:57:00 Unknown 0 Comments

I wouldn't say I'm 'fashionable', which is annoying because I'd love to be!
However I find it quite hard putting outfits together that are stylish & comfortable.

Ain't no one got time for uncomfortable clothes!

So here's a look at my super casual attempt at style.

I'd say this is quite an 'urban' & edgy sort of stylish. There's really nothing girly about this look!
If it had been fall I definitely be wearing a dark lip, like MAC Rebel with this.

So onto the clothes I'm wearing:
Top - Boutique brand, I've had this top years. I still love it as I like deep house music & used to love the programme House!
Jacket & Leggings - Topshop
Chain - River Island
Boots & Beanie - Boohoo
Watch - Michael Kors
Nose Ring - Crazy Factory

Why Arch Support?

14:38:00 Unknown 0 Comments

This is something I didn't understand for a long time.
However now I am all about the arch support!

Arch support is so important & so is knowing your feet.
Sounds crazy I know, but it wasn't until a few years ago I found out I have over-pronated feet.

Pronation is the roll of the feet. Feet can be under or over pronated. Over-pronation is when the has more of an inward roll of the feet, therefore pushing off more so with the big toe than the other toes.

To counter act this you can wear inserts in your shoes. However some shoes i.e. sports shoes/ trainers have different levels of arch support already in them.
I know Nike especially do a low, medium & high level of arch support in their 'dynamic support' range.

If you look at the photo above you might be able to see the over-pronation of my feet. Then see below how the trainers correct this.
I'm not sure if these specific trainers are still available but like I said above the Nike dynamic support range is great for this.

So why is it important to correct your natural foot pronation?

If you have a pretty neutral pronation is won't be much of a problem for you but for me the over-pronation of my feet affects my balance. So arch support allows me to feel more balanced.
I also notice if I'm exercising or walking for a long period without arch support my shins start hurt, this is because the over-pronation causes them to twist when pressure (my body weight) is put on them. Again arch support counter acts this.

If any of this sounds like your feet, you could possibly have over or under-pronated feet.
You can look online & do some more research to learn more or go see a podiatrist.
I would advise going to see a podiatrist anyway, as you'd be surprised what you can find out.

Toni & Guy Cleanse & Nourish

10:52:00 Unknown 0 Comments

I've been wanting to try some different haircare for a while now & I luckily got these with a Superdrug order. Win!

These are the Toni & Guy Cleanse & Nourish Shampoo & Conditioner.

I usually stick to 'colour protection' ranges with haircare, however I'd love to find something new!
I have used Toni & Guy shampoos & conditioners before and loved them so that's already a good place to start.

So firstly the shampoo smells quite nice, but a little like an aftershave & the conditioner smells a little like baby powder. Which I'm not a big fan of, however once out of the shower the two smells are pretty nice together.

The shampoo is one that you have to work a little bit to get it to lather & move around the hair. I also feel like it cleanses the hair quite a lot. In the sense of it leaves your hair feeling a little stripped after you've washed out the shampoo. I think it also helped remove a bit of my colour build up.

You then use the nourishing conditioner to add any lost moisture into the hair. The conditioner is a little easier to work through your hair & is super nourishing. I really understand the relationship between the two products, they work great together!

After using both of these my hair feels really soft, with a little less colour build up. I also noticed that it's not as frizzy too, which I love as I do struggle with frizz at the roots!
Another great thing is that it doesn't make my hair greasy either, some shampoo's make my hair greasy after only a day. This one however I managed to go three days before washing again.

Overall I'm loving these products!

My Mac Lipsticks

14:18:00 Unknown 1 Comments

This is the one thing that every make up addict wants to know.
What's in your MAC lipstick collection.

I only have four MAC lipsticks, because well let's face it they aren't exactly cheap.
Don't get me wrong though, I love the formulas & finishes. They are probably the best lipsticks on the market.

So this first shade is a Creme Sheen finish called Hot Gossip.
This was actually the first MAC lipstick I ever purchased. It's like a dusty rose pink colour. I find this to be the most flattering pink for my skin tone & hair colour.

This shade is Twig. Which is a really nice browny nude. I feel like considering these colours are so on trend right now, this is a very underrated shade! This shade is a Satin finish.

This third shade is Speak Louder, which is a Creme Sheen finish. This is a brighter pink shade that I don't really wear that often but still really love. This is my equivalent to wearing a bright or red shade, as my bright red hair can make some shades look weird.

The last shade I own is Rebel, which I'm sure most of you have heard of before. It is a really vampy berry shade. This is one I only tend to wear in the fall time, it's a bit dark for summer. Rebel is also a satin finish.

Can you guess what my favourite finishes are?

Comment below with your favourite MAC lipsticks or any you think I NEED in my collection!

Brow Routine

10:56:00 Unknown 0 Comments

Eyebrows are still a big thing in the beauty world, with everyone tried to perfect their look.

I used to have my eyebrows waxed & plucked by a beautician, however I didn't like the shape she was doing them so I decided to take things into my own hands.

So now I maintain my brows myself.
At least then if they turn out weird or something goes wrong I only have myself to blame.

I only pluck my brows. I do this approximately once a week. However if I see any stray hairs I will just pluck them there & then. I just use some standard tweezers for this.
I do also trim any hairs that are getting too long using some small scissors, just so things don't get too bushy & out of control!

I then fill them in. I tend to use either the Benefit BrowZing kit (powder & wax) or the Soap & Glory Archery brow pencil. I then either use a wax or gel to set my brows.

Below is a tutorial on how I do this:

Watt's Up!

09:58:00 Unknown 0 Comments

Watt's up folks!
(Sorry I had to do it)

Today that is exactly what we're talking about, the Benefit Watt's Up Highlighter.

Firstly the packaging of this product is beautiful! I love the colour so much. I also like the stick form, it makes for such easy application.

So the product itself isn't one I've heard much on, it doesn't really seem to be a 'blogger favourite'.
Sometimes though, that's the best way to discover a product!

This is a cream highlighter which has a slight pink tone to it. However it's not so pink that only pale people can use it. It's quite a universal tone that works with a variety of skin tones.

After using this I can say that it's a really nice highlighter. The shimmer in it isn't chunky or just straight up glitter, which makes for a really natural glow. It's also easy to blend for a cream product.
I also have to say that it wears really well throughout the day/ night.

My favourite place to wear this is on the tops of my cheek bones, however it does work perfectly well on any other parts of the face you wish to highlight.

Overall I have to say that I really like this highlighter!
The only problem I've had is that mine keeps falling out of the tube. I'm not sure if this is a problem with the packaging as a whole or just the sample sized packaging.

Kate's Nudes

10:48:00 Unknown 3 Comments

New product launch!
Rimmel have just launched a new nude lipstick range under their Kate Moss lipstick line.

There are five shades in the range & they have also released a range of nude nail polishes along side these.

I imagine the aim of this line is to compete with Maybelline's nude lipstick collection, however I've never seen them available in the UK.

I picked up two shades from the range which I felt were the best for my skin tone. The shades I got were 42 & 45.

My general thought on the range is that it's a bit pale. I feel like there isn't much choice for women of colour. I've very pale and even I couldn't wear some of the lightest shades in this range without result being 'concealer lips'. Which is not a look I like!

With regards to the formulation of these lipsticks, they're a creamy slightly glossy finish. I think a similar range with a matte formulation would be a great next step for Rimmel!
They are very comfortable lipsticks to wear as well, which I like.

Above are some swatches of the two shades I got, 42 is on the left & 45 on the right.
Granted, to some these shades look very similar but each is slightly different & will suit certain skin tones better than others.

My personal favourite is 45, I feel like the slight pink tone suits my skin tone & hair better.

At only £5.49, I definitely think they're worth checking out.

Hopefully you can find one that's your perfect nude!
I'm actually hoping they expand the collection from only five lipstick as more shades are definitely needed.

Instagram Look Back #1

14:11:00 Unknown 0 Comments

I thought it would be interesting to have a little look back at some of my recent Instagram photos & have a recap!

If you don't already follow me on Instagram you can by clicking here!

So we'll start with the top left.
This is the most recent photo, which shows the results of my favourite tanning product by Sun Goddess! I love this fake tan & I'm not really one for fake tanning, so that's saying something!

The second photo is of some band merch. My brother's band to be precise! The band is Everybody Looks Famous, you can check them out here. Even if you just like merch, it's always good to help out unsigned bands.

The photo on the top right is of me riding my horse.
I've being horse riding since the age of 7 & have owned my horse for 8 years. There is nothing more perfect to me than this right here! Horse riding is my little escape & I love it!

The photo on the bottom left is from a meal I had recently.
The restaurant is in The Mailbox Birmingham & is called Gas Street Social. It's quite a casual setting but equally quite fancy. I love the setting & the food. This photo is from the first time me & Reece (my partner) went but we have been back since.

The next photo is off a lovely golden bottle of prosecco & glasses. These were a birthday present for my 21st birthday last year. I included this photo as it was a great time & this was a lovely gift.

The last photo is of my camera (well one of them), to be exact my D7100. I love this camera, it's literally bae (sorry). I use this camera for photoshoots & for filming all of my youtube videos. It's also what I use to take my blog photos. It's just such an important 'tool' to me. I couldn't live without it!

The New Pre-Drink!

13:41:00 Unknown 0 Comments

After a long day at work sometimes you just need a drink.
Especially if you're get ready for a night out a little pre-drink is ideal. In this day & age for most young people a must!

However there's nothing worse than having that little bit too much pre-drink & not getting let into the club! Well LBD have got you covered!

LBD is brand focusing on a slightly lower alcohol percentage in their drinks, so you can pre-drink but not drink too much. They products are vodka based with added flavours.

The flavours include:

Peach & Raspberry
Lime & Watermelon
Apple & Cranberry

Their products come in bottles & cans. I personally think this a great idea as premixed cans are a lot easier to take in your clutch bag to a friends house to get ready. The cans also only have 99 calories in them, which is awesome! They also only contain 1 unit of alcohol!

These would be perfect for someone who isn't that into drinking as with the cans you can barely tell they have alcohol in them!

The bottles & cans are both available at ASDA stores across the UK.
My favourite flavour this the Peach Raspberry! But they are all really nice. If you're into fruity drinks you'll love them! Simply mix with lemonade & enjoy.

These are my drink of choice right now. I have to say I prefer the cans as they're just easier to take around with you & I know how many units I'm having per can! You can pick up 2 cans for £3, which I think is a pretty good price compare to some of the other premixed cans on the market.
The bottles retail from £11.99 for a 50l bottle.

Check them out here!

SPF Special

11:44:00 Unknown 0 Comments

It's summertime!
That means one thing, tanning!

Whether you're on holiday or at home if you're sitting out in the sun you should be wearing a sun cream/ sun block. Even if you don't usually visibly burn it doesn't mean the sun isn't having a negative effect on your skin!

So firstly you might not know this but SPF means Sun Protection Factor.
So how it works is that it takes approximately 20 minutes for unprotected skin to start to burn. The SPF number on your cream should prevent your skin burning for whatever number (e.g. SPF 20) times longer than without cream.

Now we need to talk about UVA & UVB rays.
These are the two different types of rays the sun radiates. UVA rays are the long waves rays that penetrate deeply into the skin causing aging & wrinkles. UVB rays are the short wave rays that cause sun burn.
This is why it's important to use a sunscreen that protects from both UVA & UVB rays.

Sun cream should be applied 30 minute prior to exposure & reapplied every 2 hours or after exposure to water (advisable even with waterproof formulas).

Sun creams do go out of date. They generally have a usage life of 12 months (a year), however if you're not sure you can check the bottle. It should have a little tub symbol with a number written on it, that's the expiry time.

So these are just some of the basics you need to know about SPF!

More information is available on SkinCancer.org

Enjoy the sun & be safe folks!

Got2B All Star

17:24:00 Unknown 0 Comments

I haven't heard much about this product in the blogging world, so when I received it in a Glossybox I wanted to give it a good test run & review.

So the testing has been done, now it's time for the review!

The first thing you notice about this product is the smell, it's quite nice. It smells like apples, so not my favourite scent but still a nice one. Another thing I noticed quite soon into applying this product is that it has glitter in it...
Yeah I don't think I like this idea, I guess it is to create 'shine' however I didn't notice it adding that much shine to my hair. Just chunks of glitter.

This product also claims to reduce frizz, which it does for the lengths of your hair. However I get the most frizz at the roots & the product directs you not to use it on the roots. So it doesn't really solve that problem for me.

Some of the other claims are fullness, strength, thickness, smoothness, suppleness & shape.
With regards to smoothness I actually find the product sometimes sits in the hair making it sticky & doing the opposite to what it should. As for the other claims I can't say I notice much of a difference.

Overall I just find this product a bit underwhelming to be honest.

Lash Princess

09:24:00 Unknown 0 Comments

We all want princess lashes right?
Well that's what this mascara by Essence claims to do!

This is the first Essence product that i have ever tried, as it isn't that readily available in the UK (that I know of).
You know what I love it!

I think that mascara is one thing that can be done well at the drugstore. This mascara is one of those mascaras!

It has a really unique wand thats curved in a wave shape (sounds weird I know) & this shape works really well! It is a plastic wand, which generally I prefer with mascaras. The wand holds just the right amount of product so that you get a decent first coat, but not so much that it results in clumpy lashes.
I would recommend doing two coats to these mascara if you want more volume.

I would say it's more of a lengthening mascara than volumising but it still makes your lashes look amazing.

A Simple skin routine

13:45:00 Unknown 0 Comments

Brand rave alert!

The brand in question is Simple.

They are a skincare brand know for their sensitive skin products. If you have sensitive skin you probably know all about this brand & are saying 'YAS' right now.

I love this brand, I have sensitive skin, especially around my eyes so I find Simple to be the perfect brand for me. So I wanted to talk to you guys a little about my 'to go' Simple products.

So firstly there's the Light Daily Moisturiser which I use most days as it's a great moisturiser that doesn't leave me feeling greasy halfway through the day. It also sinks into the skin really quickly, which makes it great to apply before your make up. All Simple products are unscented as well in case you hate heavily scented skincare.

The second product is their Soothing Eye Balm. Like I said the skin about my eyes gets very sensitive & dry so this product is perfect. It is the only eye cream I feel truly safe using on my eyes as I know it doesn't sting/ or have any irritants in it. A little goes a long way with this product so a tube lasts for ages too.

The last product I'm going to mention is their micellar water, which I already have a blog post on here. This is again a great sensitive eye product. It's the only make up remover I can use on my eyes (other than facial wipes) that doesn't sting and actually removes the make up properly. This is my favourite skin discovery of the year so far!

If you haven't tried anything from the Simple brand I would definitely recommend you do so.
Especially if you have sensitive skin on any part of your face.
The ranges are also really affordable too!

The Tints!

09:33:00 Unknown 0 Comments

Benefit are one of few brands that have a range of tints. Now I've always been a bit confused by these sort of products.
How's the best way to use them? On where? Do they stain? How do they wear?

So for anyone who has questions, I intend to answer them for you!

So firstly how they apply. They apply really smoothly to the lips & create a stained look on the lips. The original Benetint is the most like a stain & the others sit a bit more on the lips.
If you want to make them more pigmented you can simply apply more product. If you feel like it's getting a bit much though you can use your finger it disperse some of the product. However I personally don't find them overly pigmented.

I have quite red lips anyway, so for me these look really neutral on the lips. They really are a 'tint' they just tint the lips. They sink into the skin, so are very comfort to wear. It honestly feels like you're not wearing anything on your lips.

However these don't stain the lips so much that you struggle to remove them. A face wipe or micellar water will easily remove the tints.
Another good point about these is that they are kiss proof! If you're drinking & eating a lot they will start to wear off but not as quickly as other lip products.

You can also use these as a blusher, however I don't really like the idea of a liquid blush. I also feel like it could upset the way your foundation sits depending what foundation you use.

Fragrance Lovin #3

18:51:00 Unknown 0 Comments

It's time for a little more fragrance loving, but this one's for the men.
(Or those who buy for their man.)

This has to be my favourite mens fragrance of life!
This is Bleu De Chanel by Chanel.

Granted this is a very luxury fragrance & the price really isn't for the faint hearted.
Starting at £47.50 for 50ml of eau de toilette, it's definitely one you need to love to buy.

For an eau de toilette though it is very strong & you don't need to use a lot. Generally I'd say you get what you pay for with fragrance & this Chanel is no different.

The notes of this fragrance are a bit complicated as it is meant to make you feel three different things throughout the experience of wearing & smelling it. Some of these include freshness, energy & confidence. Knowing the smell very well, I know exactly what Chanel are saying here.

The notes consist of citrus, vetiver, pink pepper, grapefruit, laudanum, frankincense, ginger & sandalwood.
Sound like Chanel went all out on this one!

Boy was it worth it though. It's an amazing scent which I just love!

Benefit 24 Hour Flawless

10:49:00 Unknown 0 Comments

I mentioned this product in my "Testing Tray" post.
So the testing has been done. Now it's time for my thoughts.

The packaging itself is really cute with the polka dot detail, however this is the standard that Benefit pride themselves on!
The product is one that you twist up & can apply straight to the face. Which is great is the sense of it's no mess & less fuss, however I have heard people say theirs has broken off the packaging. Not ideal.

The primer is quite a dry primer with I find a little hard to work around your face, it works best if you apply it to you hand/ finger first as this warms it up a bit.

With regards to extending wear time. I'd say it does extend the wear time of my foundation but not necessarily for 15 hours like it claims to do. Generally I don't wear my make up for 15 hours though so that isn't really a problem for me.
It's a good primer overall, the only thing I'm not too sure about is the price tag.
At £24.50 it's definitely not a cheap buy.

Getting Sandal Ready

12:01:00 Unknown 0 Comments

It's finally summertime here in the UK, so that means it's time to get those feet out, wear so cute sandals & colourful nail polish.

However as we all know it's not quite that simple.
So here's how I get my feet summer ready.

1.  Removing any old nail polish
This is a must. You need to get off any old or chipped polish that you have on your toes. I like to use cotton rounds & Cutex Moisture Guard nail polish remover. This nail polish remover is great for dry nails.

2. Trim your toenails
This is another must. Simply because nails that are too long & unkept aren't very nice. Also if you don't trim your toenails they can start to grow under the skin, which is painful!

3. Buff feet
Now it's time to buff off any excess or dry skin on your feet. There are various tools you can use to do this, I just use a manual Scholl one (as pictured above).

4. Apply foot cream
Now that your feet are all smooth it's time to apply some foot cream. Sandal weather means the skin on your feet is very exposed and can get very dry. By applying a foot cream regularly you won't need to spend as much time buffing your feet next time round. The foot cream I'm currently loving is Heel Genius by Soap & Glory.

5. Apply fresh nail polish
This is optional. However I always feel like toenails look 100% better when they're painted. Especially if you're getting them out a lot.

Younique Fiber Lash

10:54:00 Unknown 0 Comments

This is a review I've been wanting to do for some time!
Younique are a make up company similar to Avon in the sense of you buy from a representative of the brand.
They're a company that I see all over social media, mostly for their star product which is there 3D Fiber Lash.

One of their representatives reached out to me & asked me to review the product.
So here are my thoughts!

Firstly a bit of info about this product. It's meant to be instead of mascara & meant to work 100 times better! It's a two step product where you apply the transplanting gel first then the fibres.
The fibres are meant to create a very full, false lash effect.

The packaging is very substantial which in some ways is nice & others not so. It's good as it means the packaging isn't likely to break and I quite like the quilted effect. However it's not very travel friendly.

So the product itself I actually really like!
I was worried that the fibres would create a clumpy look on my lashes however this isn't the case. I like to do two coats of this product to achieve a long & full lash look.

As for my sensitive eyes (I suffer from Blepharitis), they're fine with this product! I have only used this on what I call 'good days'. However I've had no problem with this product what so ever!
Which for me is pretty amazing!

You can see how long my lashes look in the photo above!
Another plus for me on this product is that it's SO much easier to use than applying false lashes.
The only annoying thing is the bits of fibre fallout you get under your eyes, but this can be wiped away.

Check out my full review here:

Two looks, One palette

09:27:00 Unknown 0 Comments

When you buy a make up palette you can sometimes get into a rut of just using the same colour over & over again.

So I wanted to film a 'Two Looks One Palette' sort of video to show you guys how versatile eyeshadow palettes can be.

The palette I'm using for the tutorials is the MAC pre-made warm toned eyeshadow palette.
I decided on this one because there is such a variety of colours in this palette ranging from pinks to more green colours.
There is also a mixture of finishes in this palette which is also very useful when using only one palette!

Check out the tutorials below:
