What's in my Pool Bag

I have done 'essential product' based posts in the past, but this one is slightly different.
This one this basically what I keep with me when I'm poolside on holiday.

Magazines/ Books
I don't read much when I'm at home, however it's a great pass time when you're just chilling on a sun lounger catching a tan. I like to read a variety of different things including topic specific magazines, books & ebooks on my iPhone.

Sun Cream
This really is a MUST for me, being so pale. Although it should be for anyone! Sun cream should be applied regularly if you're sitting out in the sun, especially after having a swim. I like to use Nivea sun creams for my body & am currently trialling Benefit's Dream Screen for my face.

Sunglasses
I have to wear sunglasses whenever the sun is out so I wouldn't be able to cope without these bad boys. In case I carry multiple sunglasses with me at any time.

Bottle of Water
This is again an important one! It's essential to drink water to stay hydrated when you're out in the sun. You will be sweating more & losing water quicker than normal, so drink up! If you are drinking alcohol it's still important to have water as alcohol will only aid in dehydration.

Hand Sanitiser
I take these everywhere will me, for so many reasons. Smelly, sticky sun creams, if you're eating or if you just want to refresh your hands it saves you a trip to the toilet.

Lip Balm
The sun drys out your skin in general, including your lips! Cracked, dry lips are not a good look.

iPhone
My hub for music, calm apps & books. Just an essential in life. Sorry not sorry.

Headphones
Linked to my previous item, the only way to listen to music around other people. There's nothing worse than someone playing music out loud, because let's be honest we don't all like the same things!

Let me know what's in your pool bag in the comments below.

SPF Special

It's summertime!
That means one thing, tanning!

Whether you're on holiday or at home if you're sitting out in the sun you should be wearing a sun cream/ sun block. Even if you don't usually visibly burn it doesn't mean the sun isn't having a negative effect on your skin!

So firstly you might not know this but SPF means Sun Protection Factor.
So how it works is that it takes approximately 20 minutes for unprotected skin to start to burn. The SPF number on your cream should prevent your skin burning for whatever number (e.g. SPF 20) times longer than without cream.

Now we need to talk about UVA & UVB rays.
These are the two different types of rays the sun radiates. UVA rays are the long waves rays that penetrate deeply into the skin causing aging & wrinkles. UVB rays are the short wave rays that cause sun burn.
This is why it's important to use a sunscreen that protects from both UVA & UVB rays.

Sun cream should be applied 30 minute prior to exposure & reapplied every 2 hours or after exposure to water (advisable even with waterproof formulas).

Sun creams do go out of date. They generally have a usage life of 12 months (a year), however if you're not sure you can check the bottle. It should have a little tub symbol with a number written on it, that's the expiry time.

So these are just some of the basics you need to know about SPF!

More information is available on SkinCancer.org

Enjoy the sun & be safe folks!

Summer's coming...

That's right! Summer's coming & I'm excited for it!

I also seem to be very good at breaking sunglasses lately too!

So I thought why not buy a few pairs.
If you guys haven't been on Boohoo before they are a very affordable shop.

I decided to film this haul a little differently.
I'd appreciate it if you guys gave me some feedback on the filming style.

IBIZA!!!

If you follow me on any social media you'll know that I have been on holiday this past week.
Me and my boyfriend Reece have been to Ibiza.

It was mostly a chilled out holiday, consisting of relaxing by the pool and going out for dinners.

We did have a hire car so were able to go wherever we wanted on the island. Which we pretty much did!

Below is a photo from a beach club in Es Cana.

We also went to my favourite part of the island, which is Ibiza Town, there's just something very charming and lovely about the buildings and shops there.
It's really nice to go just as the sun is setting, below are a few photos overlooking the town.

Although we were staying on the east coast side of the island we did travel to San Antonio a few times and one of which was to spend sunset at Cafe Mambo. It was a lovely evening, but comes with quite the price tag peak season so be warned.

I did try to vlog some of our trip, watch the video here:
