It's been far too long since we did an outfit of the day style post on here & on my Youtube channel, for a matter of fact! Winter is here & that means one thing. Layers!
I find it really hard to be stylish! But adding layers to an outfit can really help make it unique & exciting.
This outfit is anything but exciting, but it is practical, simple & comfortable! Which is my style all over. In fact, this is considered a lot of colour in an outfit for me (haha, yes I'm Wednesday Adamms)!
SO the outfit. My bomber jacket is from Missguided, costing only £35 it was a right bargain. It is also faux fur lined, which makes it really warm & comfortable. My Top is by Hollister & from ASOS. I have since got three more of these tops in different colours, I just really like them. My jeans are from Topshop, which are my favourite jeans!
My shoes by Nike (what's new, haha). You guys know me! I love Nike trainers, they're just so comfortable & durable. These were actually a birthday present from Liam :)
You guys might not know this but since starting the gym I have been OBSESSED with gym wear.
I mean what can I say, it's all so comfortable to war & very flattering on the body!
So here is a little wishlist of gym wear items I'd love!
Ryderwear D-Maks Raw Grey lifting shoes.
I have mixed feelings about training shoes, however I do lift some serious weight so I don't see why I shouldn't have a pair really! These ones by Ryderwear are pretty affordable & nice to look at! They have good selection of colours but I felt the grey were the most wearable.
Gymversus Black Airtex vest.
You can never have too many vests, right? This one by Gymversus is particularly cool as it somewhat see through. So if you have a cool sports bra you want to show off without going topless it's perfect.
ICanIWill Comfy V2 Tights.
Ok so I am a legging addict! These legging just look amazing don't they! Nice grey leggings are really hard to find, but these look like they are spot on. I love the piping detail too!
Gymversus Lightweight Stretch Bottoms.
I don't really wear joggers much ever, however it is starting to get a little too cold even for leggings. I like the slim fit of these ones & how simple the design is.
ICanIWill Perform Tights in Khaki.
Khaki is huge this year & it's awesome to see it's starting to get into the gym wear market too! I think it's a really flattering colour on most people. I also like to black panel design on these.
Nike Elastika Tank Top.
I've seen a lot of these vest with the strip back, however a lot of them just don't look very nice. This one by Nike actually looks really nice. Simple colours & a thin strip down the back. This sort of vest is great to show off your back!
Can we take a moment to talk about my new favourite statement item.
This is a faux fur coat!
I have been after a faux fur coat for years now, but being short can make it very tricky as a lot of them are just too long. Which although is very cosy, makes for a Cousin It sort of look (not cool).
This one I actually got for my birthday last fall & it's by Missguided.
This coat comes in at £65, which in my opinion is very reasonable! So my advise to you would have to be shop around, don't just look at shops like Topshop & River Island. There are some great & unique styles available on cheaper online shops.
Also, as we're talking faux fur I really don't see why you should be spending hundreds of pounds on this style of coat. As I don't really want mine to look like real fur.
These are great piece to have in your wardrobe for many reasons. Firstly they are warm, so in the bitter winter months they're an easy way to look chic whilst keeping warm! Another thing is that they can dress up ANY outfit, very much like the outfit I'm wearing here. It really is a day to night piece!
Also if you're not a fan or just dislike the layered look in winter, these completely remove the need for it.
So overall in my opinion as great investment piece, that doesn't necessarily have to break the bank!
Sometimes we all need a little inspiration & if you're into, or getting into fashion photography this book should be on your bookshelf!
This is Fashion Photography 101 by Lara Jade.
One of the reasons I got this book is because I love her fashion work, I also love that she grew up in the same town as me. All around inspiring stuff.
So onto the book itself.
If you're a true newbie and need some help with editorial fashion photography this book is really aimed at you! A lot of this I already know, however the photoshop section is quite interesting.
The images used are great and the book breaks thing down into stages via the images. So again newbie perfect really, as you can really see what is going on & what she means.
Overall I think it's a little to beginner for me, but a good little refresh to get my editorial ideas flowing! It's also a nice little insight to how a world renowned photographer works!
We all have 'bad hair days', me especially. My hair is thick & sometimes hard to work with.
So here are some of my go to hair styles on a bad hair day!
Firstly we have the bun!
I usually wear mine as a high messy bun (right image), they're so simple to do! I can do them with just a hairband, however if you do struggle with buns you can buy a hair donut & wrap your hair around that. Simple.
There is also the low bun, this one is a bit more stylish & high fashion at the moment.
It's literally the same principle just doing it at the nape of your neck opposed to the crown of your head. Simple, classy & practical!
Another thing I like to do is wear a hat.
I usually do this if my roots are looking a little greasy, but shh don't tell.
I like to go with either a beanie or a flat cap. These are great if your ends/ lengths are the primary issue. They also somewhat distract from your hair, as well as making a great accessory to go with your outfit.
It's free to download from the app store & is available on both iPhone and android.
You have a profile so you can post your own style/ fashion looks too.
There is also a trending section & a timeline of who you're following. This allows you to follow your favourite people's style & tailor your style inspiration!
It's a great way to get outfit & styling ideas.
Another great thing about this app is that you can ask & tag where items are from. So you can buy that exact bag, shoes, blouse whatever!
Jewellery isn't something I talk about much here, not because I don't like it but because I've very fussy about my jewellery.
I'm not a fan of cheap jewellery that goes green, as I'm the sort of person who only wears certain pieces but wears them permanently. So really I look for staple jewellery which will go with everything & matches the jewellery I already have.
So onto my favourite pieces!
Firstly there is my Michael Kors watch which I have had for years, which is a rose gold one.
I know every woman & her dog has one now but surely that just makes me trend setter (haha).
I had been looking for a few nice rings for years but when I got this watch rose gold wasn't such a big thing. However recently Thomas Sabo have been stocking some gorgeous rose gold rings! As well as other pieces (necklaces, bracelets, earrings etc).
The ring in the photo is from Thomas Sabo which I wear all the time, I don't even take it off to shower!
These pieces are also amazing quality they don't fade or change colour!
I would recommend them to anyone. So if you're on the hunt for some special jewellery definitely check these brands out.
Michael Kors now do rose gold bracelets, rings etc too!
For those of you who didn't know (i.e. have been living under a rock) we can now get Victoria's Secret products in the UK.
The nearest shop to me is the one in the Bullring in Birmingham, which is the newest shop I think.
Since I have been shopping there I can conclude they are the best place for all things lingerie!
This bra is a perfect example. The lace detailing is of great quality and the cobalt blue still shows through. This bra clips at the front, which is a neat little feature as it allows the back (which you can somewhat see in the photo) to be lacy and beautiful. I love this idea as it means the 'no bra with backless tops thing' is a thing of the past.
I prefer the structured padding in these bras too, it prevents them from becoming misshaped over time.
Overall they make some really cool, sexy & creative stuff.
This includes their range of bikinis too!
However in the UK Victoria's Secret isn't cheap, so pick wisely!
Creating cool Instagram photos is a blogger must these days.
A lot of Instagram follows are based of how your Instagram feed looks.
So hows a little insight into how I take my Instagram photos to make sure they're of great quality & style.
I like my Instagram feed to look clean & stylish.
I find the best way to get this look is by using light backgrounds like light wood flooring or a white table top. Darker backgrounds prevent the subjects colours from standing out as much.
Usually, in the summer time at least, natural light will be good enough lighting. However I do sometimes use some artificial LED lighting. I either use this LED top light as pictured above or a ring light. I actually prefer using a ring light as you can shoot through the gap instead of having to shoot around it.
I usually just take my Instagram photos on my iPhone 6 as I feel the camera quality is pretty damn good (for a phone anyway) & it also saves me having to transfer photos from my camera/ laptop. So I can post them straight away.
I like to lay my photos out a few different ways to make them look visibly interesting, subconsciously using my photography skills of composition.
I do also try to somewhat plan my posts so there aren't too many posts that look the same with the same content. That way your followers don't get bored of your posts & unfollow.
They make some really cool bright scarves like this one below.
These colours just scream spring to me! I'd pair this with jeans, some Vans, plain tee and leather jacket for a daytime look. There's nothing to say you couldn't pair this with an evening outfit as well! I actually think some of their scarves would be perfect for weddings they're that nice.
They actually have a section on their website especially for their spring scarf collection.
I'm really considering purchasing one or two myself they look so nice!
