Beaming hell!

11:42:00 Unknown 0 Comments

Spring is just around the corner and everyone is starting to embrace that dewy/ glowy skin look!
Part of achieving this look is a good highlighter!

The highlighter I'm going to be talking about today is Benefit's High Beam.
Definitely not a new product but pretty high profile!

So the basics. This is a liquid highlighter which has a pink tone to it. Ideal for pale people!
Benefit do also have some other liquid highlighters which have different tones to them.

This product can be used in a few different ways, one of which is by simply applying it to the high points of your face using the applicator (or your finger) and blending it out. It can also be used as an illuminator and mixed with your base.

This is a shimmery highlighter so I wouldn't advise using it on your under eye area.
However this highlighter is the right type of shimmery as it's shimmer & not chunky glitter.

My favourite way to use this is as a brow highlight and then set it with a powder eyeshadow.
This can also apply to the cheekbones, but I only tend to do that in the summer.

If you want to try this product I would try & get hold of a sample size first because one it's not cheap and two you don't really need more than a sample size!
This product literally never ends! It will probably go off before you get to finish it!

Basically.. I love it!

Do you think I like Urban Decay eyeshadow palettes? Oops!

Sorry, not sorry ;)

In my defence though this palette is a little different as it is an all matte palette. So that makes it fine, right?

This is the Urban Decay Naked Basics 2 palette.

First of all I think this palette is my favourite of all the Naked packaging, I love the feel & look of it.

I love Urban Decay eyeshadows as a whole, they are amazing quality and these are exactly what I expected!

Below is a full review video of this palette, including some swatches:

Sunday Skin Secrets #1

13:51:00 Unknown 1 Comments

Sunday is one of my favourite days, I don't work on sundays so I get to just chill!
With that comes a little extra time for some skincare treats.

This sunday I will be talking about my favourite face scrub EVER.
I have tried quite a few scrubs & face washes but nothing keeps my skin clear like this product.

The product I'm talking about is the Neutrogena visibly clear Blackhead Eliminating Scrub.

So firstly this product is a drugstore skincare brand, so it's very affordable. It retails for only £3.79!
This range tends to go on offer quite a bit as well (e.g. 2 for £5, 3 for 2, etc).

This scrub is obviously aimed at clearing blackheads but I also feel like it works great for spots/ blemishes. I prefer this to Neutrogena's spot control scrub.

There are micro-beads in the scrub which diffuse as you massage it into the skin. This stops the manual exfoliation of the product from being to harsh. If you have very dry skin though it might still be too harsh. I also use this daily like it states on the label, which shows how gentle the product is.

To be honest I think this has to be a 'holy grail' product for me because no scrub I've used works for my skin like this. That said though everyone's skin is different, so please take that into account.
My skin type is combo/ oily.

Surely at only £3.79 it's worth a try anyway?!

Real Talk: Micro Rings!

11:45:00 Unknown 0 Comments

You guys might not know this but I actually had micro ring extensions fitted just before Christmas.
The reason you guys won't have known is because they didn't stay there for very long.

I had planned on reviewing them whatever the outcome was, good or bad.
Sadly it wasn't a great experience.

Here is how they looked when they were put in.
I love them & still think they look amazing & sometimes I wish I had stuck it out.

However the pain!
The point of this review video is to tell you all that micro ring extensions aren't for everyone!
All I saw were amazing life changing stuff reviews, so I thought the other side needed to be put out there.

Going Gluten Free!

20:00:00 Unknown 0 Comments

So if you regularly read my blog you will already know that I have been going to a private hospital due to how ill I keep getting.
Last Wednesday I went & started my allergy testing, and I also had an appointment with a nutritionist.

We talked about literally everything, including my test results.
Some of my results had raised some flags with regards to gluten.

So the overall conclusion from the session was to cut gluten completely out of my diet.

I officially started the diet change on Friday. I haven't crumbled yet, which is good.
I have to say though, generally a lot of the gluten free products are a bit crap & tasteless!
We are also trying to find gluten free products online due to the supermarket stock being a bit rubbish to be honest (excluding Sainbury's).

I have filmed a video to go along side this blog post:

I will keep you guys updated!
If you have any tips & ideas for posts/ videos please comment below!

A true match!

16:24:00 Unknown 0 Comments

Foundation has to be the hardest make up product to get right. There are loads of different formulas & textures and don't get me started on shade ranges!

However there is one foundation that I have been using for over a year now & I am completely in love with it.
What makes it even better? Is that it is a drugstore product!

I am talking about the L'Oreal Paris True Match Foundation.

Now the first reason that I love this foundation is due to the amazingly large colour range. They range from cool, neutral to warm tones. So there is a shade for everyone!
They also do really pale shades for people like myself, usually no foundation is light enough for my skin.

Another reason I love this foundation is the coverage. I have pretty good skin so I don't need that much coverage. This foundation is a medium coverage to me and that's how I wear it, however you could build it up to create fuller coverage.

Another great point for this foundation is the packaging. It comes in a glass bottle, which is always nice. It also comes with a pump (in the UK anyway).

I really don't have much negative to say about this foundation. The only thing I wish was a little better is how long it lasts. However using a primer & setting spray does help the wear time.

Some people might also be scared off by the SPF, but it's only 17 so I doubt it's going to make too much difference when taking photos. I personally have never had any problems.

Overall I love this foundation & would reckon it to most people. I have combo to oily skin & it works fine for me, equally it's not drying either though.

The price of this foundation is approx. £9.99.
(However they do go on offer, I just got two for £12!)

New in: my make up bag!

11:36:00 Unknown 0 Comments

I have been trying to cut back on buying make up this year, just because there's only so much I can use at any one time!

However I decided to start a post called New in: My Make Up Bag.
So that when I do find little gems I can post about them for you guys!

I recently purchased two new MAC products. I really wanted to get hold of one of their neutral lip liners!
Obviously some of them were sold out (whirl) so i went with Dervish. All I can say is I LOVE IT!
Why have I never gotten into lip liners before!
This may become a problem, collecting lip liners!

I use it with most lipsticks I own & it's a great way to make them last longer.

I also decided to pick up a lipstick of a similar colour. The nearest I could find in stock was Twig. I'm surprised I haven't heard any bloggers talk about this shade before because it is beautiful!
A great browny nude!
(A little bit more brown than Dervish)

This is my current favourite lip combo, and I can't see that changing any time soon!
Expect to see these in a lot of videos!

Let's Get Naked!

16:21:00 Unknown 0 Comments

I already own the Naked 3 palette, yes I seem to be collecting them in reverse order!

But today we're talking about the Naked 2 palette!

Funny story, I didn't actually want or order this palette.
I actually ordered the Naked Basics 2 palette whilst Debenhams had a sale on, clearly someone get a little confused as I ended up with the Naked 2 palette.
The upside though, I only paid £19 for it! So I kept it!

I'm not usually one for cool toned palettes, but I have been using this for the last 2/3 months and I really like it. I think my favourite thing (which is the same case with the Naked3 palette) is the amazing quality of the eyeshadows!

Bullseye!

17:22:00 Unknown 0 Comments

It's time for another review guys!

This week we are talking brows. I have quite fair brows, which are quite a bit lighter than my hair colour so I like to fill them in.
For ages I have just used powders, which is still my product of choice, but recently I decided to try a pencil.

I'm not really a fan of the pencils that you have to sharpen, just because they are a massive ball-ache!
So whilst in Boots I noticed this:
This is Soap & Glory's Archery dual-ended brow pencil.

I am aware that Soap & Glory have two different Archery named brow pencils. One is a pencil on one end & a pen of the other, whilst the one I purchased is a pencil & brow comb.

I wanted to try this product due to it's similarity to the Brow-Wiz, as the Brow-Wiz isn't very readily available in the UK.

So onto my thoughts.

To start with I wasn't too sure on this product but now I have learnt how to use it, I really quite like it.
I found the colour selection a bit crap, as they only have two colours (blonde & brown). Obviously I use the brown shade.

The brown shade is quite a cool toned colour, which personally isn't my preference (due to having read hair) but I know a lot of people prefer that.

The pencil is the perfect size, which allows you to be really precise when filling in the brows, especially if you lack a tail and have to draw it on.
The comb is also the perfect size and density, it allows you to soften the look and move the product around the brows without removing all your hard work! I haven't experienced any shedding or problems with it becoming miss shaped either.

This products isn't the cheapest brow product at £12, especially when the Brow-Wiz is around £15.
However I do feel this product is worth that! You actually get a lot of product in there, so you won't need to repurchase very often.

Behind The Scenes

17:23:00 Unknown 0 Comments

As you guys probably know by now I am a professional photographer running my own photography business under the name Eve Bickley Photography.

So I thought I'd film a short vlog (of what I could) of what I do as part of my job.

This was an editorial shoot using a waterfall shower.

I have also attached some of the final images at the end of the video, so watch until the end to see the results.
