Lolita

So I did it, I finally caved & got a high end liquid lip. Was it worth it?
Well I have to say I'm still a little undecided on that one!

The liquid lip I decided to go for was the infamous Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in.. you guessed it Lolita.

Firstly, I have to say I do really love the packaging of this. The detailing is cool & the skin tube is really nice to carry around in your handbag. I also like the doe-foot applicator, which makes for easy application.

The formula of this product, I think is pretty good. It has a great wear time & is very comfortable to wear. I would say it is very comfort to wear for a matte lip product. So I think my problem here really isn't with the product itself, it's more with the shade.

I love a mauve nude, as much as the next person. However I feel like this shade comes off a lot more brown than I would have liked/ or expected. I'll be honest I only went with this shade because of the hype surrounding it & I kinda wish I hadn't.
I can however make this shade work for me, it's just usually a case of applying less rather than more. So, if you are looking to purchase one of these lippies I would advise trying to swatch them in person opposed to buying online. All I can say is some of the swatches aren't very accurate.

MAC Mineralised Skin Finish - Natural

Powder. A really awkward product for me. I feel like it's really hard to find a good powder, that does exactly what you need it to!
I tend to use powders to set me under eye area or if it's appropriate as a powder foundation sometimes.

There is one powder I have found so far that does a pretty decent job of both & that is MAC's Mineralised Skin Finish Natural.
I have actually repurchased this product a few times, so it must be pretty good. I actually prefer to use this as a powder foundation, as it have quite nice coverage for that. However I do also sometimes use it to set my under eyes if my concealer is a little light in tone (in the summer).

This powder is great because MAC seem to make this in lighter shades than some of their liquid foundations, which I'm sure I'm too pale to use. I also feel like this powder has a brightening aspect to it, which make your skin pop & glow a little. It just creates a really fresh, healthy look.

Overall I would have to say that this is my go to powder at the moment. I have tried a few different ones from the drugstore that I've liked, however none have compared to this one. It's also really helpfully having a mirror in the compact, which a lot of drugstore powders don't have.

Overall, if you're feeling a bit spendy I'd definitely recommend this powder!

Youth Mud

Now you guys all know that I absolutely love GlamGlow's SuperMud face mask, so I have since purchased some of their other face masks to see if they're just as good.

So I recently tried out their YouthMud face mask & I have to say I have some mixed feelings about it.

So I have used this mask a few times, so I think I can make a fair comment on how it worked for me. I will say it does work, it makes your skin feel super clean & look a lot healthier/ clearer. However it is one of those masks that brings all the nasty things to the surface, so after a few days don't be surprised by some spots!
There isn't the features of this mask that bother me, it's more the texture & feeling of it whilst on the skin. It honestly has the texture of sand, which I find a little hard to apply to the skin or too abrasive for my skin at least. Another thing is that it kind of strings my face when I first put it on & for probably the first five minutes of the face mask. I have heard a lot of people have this or worse, a burning feeling when using this face mask.

So that's why I'm so undecided on it & with the price tag being so big, I don't think I'll be repurchasing this mask. I'm glad I tired it, but I feel like it's really not for my skin type.

Namaste

We all need some time to relax!
As usual Lush have you covered on this one, with their Yoga Bath Bomb.

This one is actually a repurchase for me because I enjoyed it so much the first time I used it.

I will warn you now this bath bomb does have some glitter in it, so if you're not of a fan of that it might not be for you. However it's scent is pure bliss & relaxation. I'm not really sure what it is about this bath bomb but it really is relaxing, creating calm & peace whilst you bathe.

So if you're in serious need of some chilled you time, this is a bath bomb I would definitely recommend!

New in my Make Up Bag #6

As fall comes around I think it's time to have a little shake up of the old make up bag!
So there's a few new items & a few return items in there this month.

By return items I mean products I've had a while that I've just rediscovered. I mean who doesn't love a good re-discovery!

I actually haven't been buying much make up as of late, especially as it's getting to that expensive time of year (Christmas is coming). So something I try to do quite regularly is empty my make up bag & select some different items of make up I haven't used for a while.
That way you actually get the use out of most of your make up!

So onto the items...

Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette is a good old favourite of mine. When I first got it I was OBSESSED with it for ages, as it was my first Naked palette! I think at this time of year it's nice to break out the warmer rose gold/ copper eyeshadow shades. Which is the whole concept of this palette!

Revlon Colorstay Gel Envy Diamond Top Coat, now that's a mouthful. However it is worth it, as this product is definitely one you want on your radar! I have recently been having gel polish put on my nails, however when I'm doing my own nails this is my go to top coat. It gives me twice as much wear time with any nail polish. This nail polish formula is great too!

Benefit They're Real Eyeliner is ones I've just getting into. I'm still not totally into eyeliner, however I find this one really easy to use for someone lazy & out of practice like myself. It also wears for a very long time. My only issue is it's a little hard to remove.

MAC Lipstick in Hot Gossip, this was the first ever MAC lipstick that I purchased & it hasn't been doing much for a while. I must say though, I still love it! It's a really nice pinky nude shade, which works perfectly with my pale skin tone. I just really hope them don't ever remove this shade!

So what's new in your make up bags this fall??
Let me know in the comments!

Benefit Blushes

Benefit are a make up brand I love! I dare say they're one of my favourites.
I definitely have a lot of their stuff in my make up drawers!

Today I wanted to talk about their blushes. Benefit's blushes are one of their staple products, as well as their Hoola bronzer.

Firstly, we don't even need to discuss they packaging. It's simply beautiful, fun & unique! I love these boxed blushes, although chunky as packaging goes, they are very fun and very user friendly. This packaging is extended through to their palettes as well, which you can somewhat see below.

I have tried pretty much all of their blushes & their isn't one that I don't like. Granted some I like more than others but none of them like terrible or have no pay off. The lightest in pigmentation is dandelion, but that is due to it's light colour. I actually like it for in the winter when I'm super pale.

My current favourite (I say current because it changes quite often with these) is the Rockateur blush, it's a beautiful rose gold sort of colour. Again it isn't over-pigmentated, but for someone pale like myself it's perfect.

Another thing I love about these blushes is their scent. Some people might hate or not see the point in it, but all of these blushes are fragranced! I love the way they smell, in fact overtime I use one I just have to sniff it too (haha). I think they all smell slightly different, but they all are quite sweet & lovely.

If you can get your hands on a palette like the one above I would definitely recommend doing so!

Thirsty Mud

Up until now I have only ever tried one of GlamGlow's face masks, however I have been dying to try some of the others for ages! When I was in Rome I picked up some sample sizes to try.

I am planning on reviewing the other ones as well in the future, but this is the only one I've tried so far.

The one I have tried so far is the Thirsty Mud hydrating treatment.
Firstly, can we talk about this packaging??
GlamGlow packaging is always amazing and these sample sizes are no different. Sounds silly, but I love that the sample packaging is actually the same as the full size!

So onto the mask, this mask is a hydrating face mask for those times when your skin is feeling a little dry & in need of moisture. So I imagine if you have dry skin in general this product would be perfect for you!
I only tend to get dry areas on my face, so for me this is probably best used as part of a multi-masking routine (using more than one mask, different masks for different problem areas).

As I don't really suffer with dry skin too much I thought this product was going to be a little wasted on me, however I would have to say I was wrong!
The first time I used this mask was after I got back from Rome. The climate was so hot out there that it had dried my skin out quite a lot, so this had to be really moisturising to make a difference. I'm happy to report that I only needed to use this once, to restore my skin to normal!

So I am very impressed with this mask & I think if you're going away it's definitely worth trying.
It would be perfect for long haul flights, holidays & season changes (which we are undergoing right now).

I think in the winter months this mask is really going to come into it's own for me, because crazy British weather = dry skin!

Big Blue

I am still very much on the Lush hype!
I mean lets be honest there's just so much stuff to try.

I recently hauled a few things from Lush, so as usual I'd like to review them.

Today we're going to be talking about Big Blue.

Big Blue is one of their bath bombs from their permeant range. It is meant to evoke summer time and the seaside, as it contains sea salt & seaweed. It's scent is perfect beachiness, which I think is really nice & refreshing.
The combination of seaweed & sea salt makes for really exfoliating yet softening on the skin.

It also contains oils which act to clear the mind, cleanse & as an antiseptic. So if you're feeling a little stressed & are having some skin issues this bath bomb is the one for you. I actually keep getting bitten at the moment, due to the weather & the antiseptic in this bath bomb has soothed them lovely!

The only thing I don't like is removing the seaweed from the bath. It does tend to get stuck in the plughole, so be prepared to get it out with your hands (not so relaxing).

Rome Sephora Buys

Recently I went on a little holiday.
Me & Liam went to Rome for a few days, it was amazing. If you've never been I'd highly recommend it!

Whilst we were there we came across a Sephora!
Which to most sounds like nothing but to Brits it's quite a big thing, seeing as we don't have them in the UK.

So I figured it was only right to do a little bit of a haul for you guys on what I got.

So the first thing I picked up was a Beauty Blender. I know these are now available in the UK but it was a much better price in Rome, so I figured I should get one FINALLY.
I have to say, it was definitely worth it! I've only used it a handful of times but I'm completely in love with it!

I also picked up some face masks. I decided to try one of the Sephora sheet masks as I know a lot of other bloggers rate them quite highly. I have yet to use it yet though.

I also picked up this GlamGlow gift set, which I thought was too cute to pass up!
Firstly the mini sized pots are just adorable & I know from experience that these masks tend to be pretty good. Me & Liam both love the SuperMud mask.
I'm looking forward to testing out all of the others too!

MAC Lip Liners

I never used to understand the use of lip liners really, I was just lazy & didn't bother.
However they have really grown in popularity over the last few years, so I decided to try some.

I'll admit I don't have loads still but I have some MAC ones that I LOVE!

I actually think I'll be collecting more of these than MAC lipsticks to be honest. I find these a lot more versatile to use & last so much longer than lipsticks alone. I also really like the formula of these MAC ones, they glide on so easy, the only time they might tug is if you need to sharpen it.

That really is my only con of these is that you do have to sharpen them. However the twist up ones can get a little blunted, so sharpening them can improvement their usability. It's really down to what you prefer to use.

The two shades I have are both nudes mauves, which is my preferred colour. They are in the colours Soar (above) & Dervish (below). MAC offer a huge colour selection of lip liners though, so I'm sure you'll find something just right for you!

Zoeva Brushes

You can never have too many make up brushes, in my opinion!
So I recently decided to try a new brand of brushes, partly to see what the hype is about.

I know a lot of UK bloggers/ beauty vloggers love these brushes, which are by Zoeva.
They are a European company & that I first heard about a few years ago. They've gradually become more on the radar as the years have gone on.

I always thought their brushes looked really nice quality & their sets always looked really versatile.
So the set I got was the Rose Gold Brush Set.
Which comes with a selection of face & eye brushes.

The quality of the brushes differs with the material used. What I mean by this is that the synthetic  brushes are better quality & more durable than the natural hair brushes. The natural ones are the all white brushes & the synthetic have a duo fibre look. However I feel like this is just a standard thing with all brush brands.
I have also had a bit of shedding & breakage with the natural hair brushes.

On the flip side though some of my favourites are the natural hair brushes! Which surprised me.
I have also washed these brushes a few times now they wash & dry well, returning to their original shape. Which is what I expect from good brushes.

So shall we talk about my favourites for a minute?
The small angled brush has changed my brow game MASSIVELY. It's an amazing brush & I would recommend it to anyone after a new brow brush. I also really like the eyeshadow brush, it great for bending shadows together & into the crease. It's my new favourite eyeshadow brush. I also really like the angled blush brush.

Overall it's a great set, with a brush for pretty much everything! If you're thinking of getting it I would say go for it. I would definitely pick this kit over some of the Sigma kits out there (I own both).

So overall I really like them as a kit.
The set also comes with a travel bag, which is awesome too!

Skin visage

Mac sometimes do this awesome thing where if you fill out your email on a social media form you can get a free sample of a product. On one of these occasions I managed to bag myself a sample of their Prep & Prime Skin Base Visage.

I believe this product is meant to be a moisturising & illuminating skin base/ primer.

So my initial thoughts when swatching this product was that there are some small glitter particles in it, so I thought I wasn't going to like it. However I actually really like it, having tried it a good few times!
It is quite moisturising on the skin, it would definitely be ideal if you wanted a two in one moisturiser & primer. As for the glitter, you really can't see it on the skin. It does create a bit of illumination on the skin though, ideal for someone with drier skin I'd say.
In terms of priming though I don't feel like this makes my make up last any longer. Really it's just creating a moisturised base to help your make up go on smoother.

It's a nice product & I will definitely use up all of the sample. I'm not sure I would pay £21.00 for the full size though, just because I don't really desire the illuminating effect in my primers.
So overall a nice product, but for me probably not worth the splurge!

Yankee Candle, worth the hype?

Today I'm answering a question which I myself wanted answering for so long..
Are Yankee Candles worth the hype??..

I have now tried a few different Yankee Candles, differing in scent & size.

So here's what you need to know!

Firstly, Yankee Candles have a huge variety of scents with different scents for different seasons. Cheaper candle brands won't have this sort of selection for you to choose from. If you're into different & interesting scents Yankee might be worth it for you.
Another point about them, which I see as a good point, is that they kick off a lot of scent. Even when they're not lit you can smell them through the jar! When they are lit you really don't need to burn them for long, as they give off SO much scent. So this could save you money, if they last you longer than cheaper candles.
Yankee candles also burn really evenly, considering the larger ones still only have one wick this really surprised me. This is a great feature though, as it means you waste less of your candle.

So overall, for me I'd say they are worth the hype. Although I would say to try & wait until you see them on offer still! If you're not that into home fragrance though, I'd pass on them.

Ooh La Lift

Highlighters are hot products right now in the make up world!
I have quite a few already but this one by Benefit is a little different.

This is Ooh La Lift by Benefit Cosmetics & it's a matte uplifting highlighter.

So as usual let's get into the nitty gritty, does it really do much?

I would say not. Unless you use it as a base for another highlighter or even as an eyeshadow base. There's just something about it which makes it look patchy & it separates a bit. I think this is so noticeable because it is a matte product. You can see in the swatch below, without any blending it looks pretty crap.

It does however have quite a cooling effect on the eyes, which is nice. To be honest this might work quite well at brightening under the eyes, but use it before a foundation & concealer. Also like an illuminating base.

Overall I'm glad I only have a sample size & didn't spend on the full size. I'd say there much better highlighters out there, especially in the drugstore. So for me I wouldn't spend the money on this product. Sorry Benefit!

Sunday Skin Secrets #5

Is it terrible that until now I have never tried a Clinique product?
To be honest I just haven't felt the need to, my skin generally is very settled & I don't suffer with dry skin or acne problems. I use mostly drugstore skincare products on my face, as my skin doesn't want for much.

My skin is combination, getting a bit oily in the centre throughout the day.

I got this sample with a magazine, so thought I might as well use it.
You know what I really like it!

This is Clinique's dramatically different moisturising lotion+.
(long name much?)

So it says on the tube that this lotion is very very dry skin, however I would have to disagree. If it was, surely it would make my skin super greasy. It's just the right amount of moisture for my skin!

It's moisturising but doesn't leave me too oily or greasy. I still get a bit of oiliness in the centre of my face, but it's mostly just my chin. This lotion also sinks into the skin really quickly, which makes it great if you're applying make up straight after application.

I thought Clinique products were meant to be quite strong, maybe that's just their acne range(s), but this feels more like a Simple product on the skin. It does have scent to it, but it's nothing too offensive or strong, which is also nice.

Overall a really nice moisturising lotion, it doesn't do anything too dramatic (unlike it's name) but it does help keep your skin balanced & happy!

The price of this ranges from £18 - £38, I think the price does put me off a bit. If I did want to have a splurge though £18 doesn't seem to crazy to me for a good lotion I know works with my skin.

Roller Lash

As most of you know by now I'm quite a big fan of Benefit Cosmetics as a brand.
They're packaging & products are generally amazing!

So I decided to finally try their Roller Lash Mascara.
I love the They're Real mascara & have claimed it as my holy grail since trying it. However when my eyes are feeling sensitive I just can't wear it. There's something about either the formula or the wand that just makes my eyes go crazy!
Hence why I wanted to try this one, as it claims to be more of a natural not so intensive lash look.

First of all, as usual Benefit are killing it with the cute packaging. A lot of brands really don't try when it comes to sample sizes, not Benefit though!

Onto the shape of the wand, it looks great. I have tried curved wands in the past (by Maybelline) and really liked them, I think they really can help keep a curl! This one is exactly the same. Even without curling my lashes this mascara gave them an awesome curl. I was even getting compliments on how nice my lashes looked (that says something).

The formula is also really nice! It doesn't disappear halfway through the day or flake away. The formula & wand also (most importantly) don't hurt or bother my eyes in the slightest! Ideal!
Overall I think Benefit have done it again & made a really amazing mascara.

I can definitely see myself buying the full size of this once I run out!

Bag Lovin #2

It's been a while since we had some bag lovin on this blog, so I'm bringing it back!
I got a new bag recently and am so happy with it I thought I would share it with you guys.

So the bag I got was a Michael Kors bag (I know, everyone has them now). I'll be honest I'd been eyeing the black version of this bag for a while. I really like quilted bags, but know I will never get my hands on a Chanel one, so I figured this was the next best thing!
Michael Kors make really good quality bags & they're soft leather ones are really nice.

So this bag is the Sloan Large quilted-leather should bag. You can get it in a few different colours, but I went for the grey. I went for this partly because it's something different as all my other bags are black & because I just really liked the grey. Grey still goes with everything, like black does.

So the bag itself is made of really nice quality soft leather. It has a shoulder strap with can either be used as two shorter handles or one cross body length handle. I prefer to use it with the two shorter, as it fits perfectly under your arm that way. This is great for anti-theft reasons.
Another thing I really like about this bag is the clasp, as it's not that easy to get into (again for anti-theft reasons this is great. PS can you tell I've had my purse stolen before!!)

My purse fits perfectly in this bag too, which is great as it's quite a large purse. The bag has two sections with a zip section in the middle, as well as the usual phone pockets & back zip. So there are plenty of places to put values, as well as essentials.

Overall it wasn't a cheap bag, but for me definitely worth the price.
I debated over this bag for a while, but the anti-theft features on it really sold me.
I still get super paranoid about my purse & phone getting stolen, but with this bag it's pretty much impossible.

What bag are you loving at the moment??

Real Cheeky Party!

Benefit are always on it at this time of year with their gift sets & this year I was lucky enough to get one for my birthday!
The one I got was 'Real Cheeky Party', which is very similar to one they released last year which I missed out on.

This kit comes with 4 blushes, a bronzer, a cream highlighter, a gel eyeliner & a mascara.
The sizes of these products, especially the powders, are amazing value for money. This set is great if you're interested in Benefits top products but don't fancy using all of your money on them!

Some of these products I already own & love, which is always a nice place to start.
I've since tried out all of the other products & like them all. The product I'm less keen on is the Watts Up highlighter, as I find it a little gold for my skin tone sometimes.

Overall I think this kit is a great gift to anyone who's into make up. I also think it's probably one of the best value for money kits from their collection this year.

Ultra Plush

I personally am the sort of person who loves a glossy lip, even in fall.
These are some of my favourites glosses & they are Benefit's Ultra Plush Lip Glosses.

Firstly can we take a moment for this packaging. Benefit always gets a 10/10 on packaging for me!
This carnival style packaging is super cute.

The glosses come in a variety of very complimentary colours, airing more on the nude/ neutral side of lip colours. Which I personally really like in a range!
I think the most important thing to mention about the formulation is that they are NOT sticky, in any way, shape or form! Which makes them so comfortable to wear, to the point where you forget you're even wearing a gloss.
They aren't overly pigmented just like a lot of glosses, but I love to layer these over other lip products to create a really glossy lip look.

You can see the colour pay off in the swatch image below.

These two shades are fauxmance (top) & A-Lister (bottom). Which I got in last years Benefit advent calendar and I have to say I get SO much wear out of these two shades.
Overall these are a great gloss & I would highly recommend them!
