New in my Wardrobe #1

13:56:00 Unknown 0 Comments

New series alert!!

I'm starting a new series today here on the blog.
It will be featuring new clothing items that I'm loving & titled as above 'New in my Wardrobe'.

So the product we're talking about today are some legging by Superdry.
I don't know why, but Superdry has never really had a proper sportswear range (a bit odd for such a sports based brand). However they recently launched one!

They cover a great array of sportswear style staples, paired with awesome colourful prints/ patterns.

You can see this in the leggings I'm wearing above. The quality of these leggings are great, super stretchy & thicker than you're bog standard leggings. They also have a phone zip pocket on the bottom, which is a interesting place to put it but actually quite a useful one!
I also love the print & colour of these leggings! I ombre colour scheme is super cool & unique. The print being their name makes them stand out as a brand.

I will definitely be purchasing more from this range very soon. They have a great selection of tops, vests, hoodies etc as well as leggings.
I will say they aren't the cheapest sportswear, however the price point is definitely on par with Nike & Adidas. Which I imagine some people would consider the average for high quality sportswear.

Vaseline

10:08:00 Unknown 0 Comments

Calling all lazy girls out there, this product is for you!

This isn't a new product, but it is great & definitely worth a try.
This is Vaseline's Spray & Go moisturiser.

It is literally that. A spray on body lotion/ moisturiser.

I tried this product when it very first came out years ago & then it was great. They rebranded & relaunched it last year(or so), so I picked it up again. I always pick this up if I'm going away, as its so quick & easy to use.

I love this product! It's so simple & easy to use. I really don't have time for body butters, I like them, but all it does is get under my nails (which makes my cringe). This moisturiser is also quite light, so it sinks into the skin really quickly. Getting dressed straight away, no problem!

If you have super super dry skin though, it probably won't give you the amount of moisture you need, so if you're suffering with quite dry skin I'd advise something heavier like a body butter.

This is an lazy/ busy girl essential in my opinion. If you are ever in a rush but need to moisturise your body this will be your best friend.

They do also have other scents & types in the collection like cocoa butter, which might be more moisturising. So check them out when you're next in the drugstore.

They also go on offer quite often too, so keep an eye out if you're not fancying the full price!

Zoeva Brushes

17:14:00 Unknown 0 Comments

You can never have too many make up brushes, in my opinion!
So I recently decided to try a new brand of brushes, partly to see what the hype is about.

I know a lot of UK bloggers/ beauty vloggers love these brushes, which are by Zoeva.
They are a European company & that I first heard about a few years ago. They've gradually become more on the radar as the years have gone on.

I always thought their brushes looked really nice quality & their sets always looked really versatile.
So the set I got was the Rose Gold Brush Set.
Which comes with a selection of face & eye brushes.

The quality of the brushes differs with the material used. What I mean by this is that the synthetic  brushes are better quality & more durable than the natural hair brushes. The natural ones are the all white brushes & the synthetic have a duo fibre look. However I feel like this is just a standard thing with all brush brands.
I have also had a bit of shedding & breakage with the natural hair brushes.

On the flip side though some of my favourites are the natural hair brushes! Which surprised me.
I have also washed these brushes a few times now they wash & dry well, returning to their original shape. Which is what I expect from good brushes.

So shall we talk about my favourites for a minute?
The small angled brush has changed my brow game MASSIVELY. It's an amazing brush & I would recommend it to anyone after a new brow brush. I also really like the eyeshadow brush, it great for bending shadows together & into the crease. It's my new favourite eyeshadow brush. I also really like the angled blush brush.

Overall it's a great set, with a brush for pretty much everything! If you're thinking of getting it I would say go for it. I would definitely pick this kit over some of the Sigma kits out there (I own both).

So overall I really like them as a kit.
The set also comes with a travel bag, which is awesome too!

A Note to Bloggers...

09:45:00 Unknown 0 Comments

If you have even an interest in blogging you'll know that it's massive right now.
If you blog, just for yourself, go you! I think that's great.

I personally blog, because firstly I love doing it! I find it very therapeutic sometimes.
I also do it because all of my friends ask my opinion on products, so I figure this is an easier way of telling them, instead of having to re-tell the say thing to different people.

I also love reading other people's blogs too. However I don't always feel like this is mutual with some bloggers. I'm not focusing on any in particular here, just to clarify!

Some might say this is a 'rant' or 'bashing' style blog post, it's really not intended that way. I just want to highlight new/ growing bloggers of a few things.

1. Blogging is easy work.
WRONG! If you really want to have a good looking & interesting blog you will need to work bloody hard at it! It's all about looking professional. The blogging 'community' is very competitive at the moment, which can be intimidating but don't let that stop you. Just put some of those old Myspace HTML skills back into act.

2. You must be a photographer.
This one isn't true, but I'm sure many of you are starting out feel like it is. All blogging is really, is great practice for photography. Enjoy it, learn from it. Jump out of your comfort zone & try using M mode.Trust me, it's life changing!

3. It's all about views & making dollar.
If that's why you're blogging, you're definitely in it for the WRONG reason my friend! It's not a 'get rich fast' scheme that's for sure. You have to promote, promote, promote. As well as post, post, post! It's a long old saturated road.

4. It's all about success & the numbers!
I hope you guys are getting the sarcasm by now, haha. Seriously though guys, blog because you enjoy it & are passionate about the subject topic. Don't look too much at the numbers, especially early on.
Also if you have a blog please leave me a link in the comments!

My Treadmill Routine

12:56:00 Unknown 0 Comments

So my cardio is terrible!
Therefore one of my current aims is to improve it & get my resting heart rate down.

The way I intend to do this is by using a treadmill.
One because British weather is shit & two because running on the road is too hard on my shins.

So I thought why not share my treadmill routine with you guys.  By treadmill routine I mean the workout programme I intend to use to improve my cardio.

So the first thing I'm going to do, as I do with any work out, is to stretch out first. This is to reduce the risk of me pulling any muscles whilst doing my work out. This is a must before doing any exercise!
I do a few different stretches for both the legs & arms (you do move your arms when you run).

Now onto the workout!
Firstly, I start by walking at what I consider my average walking pace. I also like to have some incline, even if it's just level 1. I actually find it easier to run on an incline.
I then gradually increase the speed to a light jog, maintaining this pace for approximately 3 minutes (so after this point I am 5 minutes into the workout).

After this I then start my faster intervals. I like interval training as a whole, as it's not as tedious due to the changes of pace/ exercises (in this case pace). So by interval training I mean, running at a faster pace (about level 7.5 on my treadmill) for as long as I can or a set time limit then slow my pace, then repeat.
This is the whole principle of my treadmill workouts at the moment.

It's a great way to train as the short breaks (rest periods) allow you to recover to some degree, which means you can exercise for longer & push yourself further.
Don't over do it though & never push yourself too far to quickly!

So I hope this has helped some of you.

Heel Genius

14:55:00 Unknown 0 Comments

I am not one for feet as a whole, however sometimes you do need to give them some TLC.

So when it comes to pampering my feet I like to use a foot cream. Especially when it's that seasonal transition my feet can get dry & feel a little gross.

My current favourite foot cream is this one by Soap & Glory called Heel Genius.

The reason I really like this foot cream is because it is really thick & moisturising on the feet. Weirdly enough though it sinks into the skin really quickly, considering how thick it is. Which for me is a must in foot creams, because lets face it who's got time to run around with sticky naked feet (not me)!
So if you're in a bit of a rush & need to put your socks straight on, go for it.

There are some things I'm not that keen on with this product though. The first is the scent, it has a very strong peppermint smell. I'm really not a peppermint fan, so if they could bring out one with a different scent that would be ideal!
I also find the gel like texture of the cream gross to touch, odd I know. I just have to shudder & get over it, as the product moisturises too well to pass on.

Yognog Bath Bomb

14:15:00 Unknown 0 Comments

We are having a Christmas flashback moment!
Today I wanted to review Lush's YogNog bath bomb, I mean why not?

The first thing you notice about this bath bomb is the scent. I have to say it's not my favourite Lush scent, I would try & tell you what it is but I literally have no idea (which is unusual for me).

It's description reads: Raise a toast to cinder toffee soaks with spicy clove & ylang ylang.

Firstly, this bath bomb is massive! You could cut it in half & use it twice, just to get a bit more bang for your buck. It has a nice scent, but doesn't everything from Lush! However this isn't my favourite scent, I find it to be a little sweet yet powdery.

What I do love though is how this bath bomb makes your skin feel! It is super moisturising, which I imagine is the ylang ylang. In fact, if you watch the demo linked below you can see two yellow moisture balls of it! It seems like a great product though, as I didn't even need to moisturise after shaving my legs.

Faux Fur

16:42:00 Unknown 0 Comments

Can we take a moment to talk about my new favourite statement item.
This is a faux fur coat!

I have been after a faux fur coat for years now, but being short can make it very tricky as a lot of them are just too long. Which although is very cosy, makes for a Cousin It sort of look (not cool).

This one I actually got for my birthday last fall & it's by Missguided.

This coat comes in at £65, which in my opinion is very reasonable! So my advise to you would have to be shop around, don't just look at shops like Topshop & River Island. There are some great & unique styles available on cheaper online shops.
Also, as we're talking faux fur I really don't see why you should be spending hundreds of pounds on this style of coat. As I don't really want mine to look like real fur.

These are great piece to have in your wardrobe for many reasons. Firstly they are warm, so in the bitter winter months they're an easy way to look chic whilst keeping warm! Another thing is that they can dress up ANY outfit, very much like the outfit I'm wearing here. It really is a day to night piece!
Also if you're not a fan or just dislike the layered look in winter, these completely remove the need for it.

So overall in my opinion as great investment piece, that doesn't necessarily have to break the bank!
What more could you ask for.

Skin visage

13:29:00 Unknown 0 Comments

Mac sometimes do this awesome thing where if you fill out your email on a social media form you can get a free sample of a product. On one of these occasions I managed to bag myself a sample of their Prep & Prime Skin Base Visage.

I believe this product is meant to be a moisturising & illuminating skin base/ primer.

So my initial thoughts when swatching this product was that there are some small glitter particles in it, so I thought I wasn't going to like it. However I actually really like it, having tried it a good few times!
It is quite moisturising on the skin, it would definitely be ideal if you wanted a two in one moisturiser & primer. As for the glitter, you really can't see it on the skin. It does create a bit of illumination on the skin though, ideal for someone with drier skin I'd say.
In terms of priming though I don't feel like this makes my make up last any longer. Really it's just creating a moisturised base to help your make up go on smoother.

It's a nice product & I will definitely use up all of the sample. I'm not sure I would pay £21.00 for the full size though, just because I don't really desire the illuminating effect in my primers.
So overall a nice product, but for me probably not worth the splurge!

Lord of Misrule

11:00:00 Unknown 0 Comments

It's time for another Lush review!
This time we are talking about The Lord of Misrule bath bomb.

This bath bomb is another one from their Christmas collection, however the scent isn't this Christmas so I see no reason why you couldn't use this at any time in the year.

It's description reads: Revel in the bath with this wine-coloured, mystically-scented soak.

Firstly I love the scent of this bath bomb, I really couldn't describe it to you but trust me it's amazing!
After using this bath bomb I think this is my new favourite!

It fizzes away to reveal a deep purple/ pink colour, creating a really comforting & relaxing feeling for your bath water. The scent becomes a little less intense in the air, but leaves you smelling gorgeous all day & the next.
It isn't a glittery bath bomb, which is nice as some can be a little too glittery.

It's also really moisturising on your skin. I wasn't expecting that from it at all, so it was a nice little surprise. It makes your skin really soft & helps moisturise any nasty body acne you have.

Overall, love love love it! It creates the perfect bathing experience!
I would definitely recommend it.

Yankee Candle, worth the hype?

10:03:00 Unknown 0 Comments

Today I'm answering a question which I myself wanted answering for so long..
Are Yankee Candles worth the hype??..

I have now tried a few different Yankee Candles, differing in scent & size.

So here's what you need to know!

Firstly, Yankee Candles have a huge variety of scents with different scents for different seasons. Cheaper candle brands won't have this sort of selection for you to choose from. If you're into different & interesting scents Yankee might be worth it for you.
Another point about them, which I see as a good point, is that they kick off a lot of scent. Even when they're not lit you can smell them through the jar! When they are lit you really don't need to burn them for long, as they give off SO much scent. So this could save you money, if they last you longer than cheaper candles.
Yankee candles also burn really evenly, considering the larger ones still only have one wick this really surprised me. This is a great feature though, as it means you waste less of your candle.

So overall, for me I'd say they are worth the hype. Although I would say to try & wait until you see them on offer still! If you're not that into home fragrance though, I'd pass on them.

Ooh La Lift

15:16:00 Unknown 0 Comments

Highlighters are hot products right now in the make up world!
I have quite a few already but this one by Benefit is a little different.

This is Ooh La Lift by Benefit Cosmetics & it's a matte uplifting highlighter.

So as usual let's get into the nitty gritty, does it really do much?

I would say not. Unless you use it as a base for another highlighter or even as an eyeshadow base. There's just something about it which makes it look patchy & it separates a bit. I think this is so noticeable because it is a matte product. You can see in the swatch below, without any blending it looks pretty crap.

It does however have quite a cooling effect on the eyes, which is nice. To be honest this might work quite well at brightening under the eyes, but use it before a foundation & concealer. Also like an illuminating base.

Overall I'm glad I only have a sample size & didn't spend on the full size. I'd say there much better highlighters out there, especially in the drugstore. So for me I wouldn't spend the money on this product. Sorry Benefit!

Scentsy

09:54:00 Unknown 0 Comments

This was a Christmas gift, which at first I was like 'what the hell is this?'
However I have to say, in terms of home fragrance, this is life changing!!

This is the Scentsy electric burner.
I'd have oil burners in the past & not really used them, because really they're just a little messy & time consuming to setup.
This however is the opposite.

This electric burner you simply plug in, turn on the button on the back, add a scentsy block & you're good to go!

On of the things I love the most about this is that if you forget to turn it off, there is no open flames to catch anything & it just keeps scenting your room. So for safety this is much better. If you do have young children though, I would advise putting it out of their reach as the burned wax could burn them.
Another thing I love is that you can switch this on for about 20 minutes & if you have to turn it off no problem. Candles however don't tend to burn very evenly when you only have them lit for short periods of time.

So how this works is as well as buying the burner/ melter you buy Scentsy Bars, these you can see in the photograph above. They have a large variety of scents, even including an 'easy breath' menthol one! So you can collect them all really. The bars come with 8 cubes in them, simply break off a cube & place in the heating dish of the burner.
You only need to use one cube at a time & they last for ages. When I say ages, I mean ages!
I'm still on my first cube & I've been using this for over a month (I would like to note I have this on a lot)!
If you get sick of a cube or use it all up, you just clean the removable heating dish & pop a new one in!

If you're into home fragrance, you need this in your life!

PS. The scentsy bars I currently have are Vanilla Bean Buttercream & Cosy Fireside.

New in my Make Up Bag #5

13:24:00 Unknown 0 Comments

Seeing as we are well into the new year now, a month in actually, I thought it was time to update my make up bag. I have added a few new things & a few older products.

So onto the five products I've added to my everyday make up bag.

Soap & Glory Sexy Motherpucker Lip Lacquer
I've had this product for a little while & not really used it. I honestly don't know why because it is amazing. It's my staple lip colour as a glossy lip lacquer. I also love that it's not a matte lip lacquer! Can we have more glossy lip lacquers please?!?

Benefit Lemon Aid
The first of three Benefit products (I'm sorry). Again this is a product I've owned for awhile, at one point I loved it then hated it. Now I really like it again. I only started using this again because the blueness under eyes has been really bad recently & I have to say it really helps. It just gives you that extra coverage you need, making your concealer look much better.

The Body Shop Strawberry Lip Balm
This product is new, I actually got it in my advent calendar! I haven't really tried much by The Body Shop in fact the only thing I have tried is their Aloe Lip Balm, which is awesome. It is a completely different type of lip balm to this though, so I'm excited to see how good this one is too.

Benefit Big Beautiful Eyes palette
This is an oldie but a goodie! I've used this so much I've hit pan on one of the shadows. This palette contains three eyeshadows & a concealer. Sadly the concealer is too dark for under my eyes, however I use it as an eye base! The three eyeshadow colours work amazingly together & it's a palette I always find myself coming back to.

Benefit Dandelion Blush
This is a new discovery from Benefit's Real Cheeky Party palette. I always heard that Dandelion was a bit lack lustre, but I disagree! Maybe it's because I'm really pale but it creates a really subtle & natural flush to the cheeks. I think I'm going to be using this one a lot!

Magic of Christmas Bubble Bar

10:31:00 Unknown 1 Comments

I know Christmas is well & truly over, but we all have some Christmas Lush stuff leftover.
So I figured it was still worth doing a little review of the some their products.
Especially if it's likely they're going to be back next year.

The one we're talking about today is the Magic of Christmas Bubble Bar.
This a reusable Bubble Bar, which comes on a stick. A lot like the Snow Fairy one!

However this one is very different from snow fairy in so many ways!
Firstly the stick is much better & can hold the weight on the product much better, in fact it's actually a cinnamon stick. Which is brilliant idea if you ask me, it also looks super cute too.

So how you use this is you simply whirl it around in your bath water & it creates cinnamon scented bubbles. It is also meant as a multi-use bubble bar!

So onto my thoughts.
I like this concept & I like the smell of cinnamon a lot. The reusable aspect of it is great too, as it makes it much better value for money. The only thing I will say is this product is a little glittery. This doesn't bother me, but if you hate glitter you'll not be a big fan.
The only other thing I will say is the bar tends to break down by the stick quite quickly, which can lead to it falling over so just be aware of that when using it.

Overall though I'm enjoying using this bubble bar & still am! I just wish the scent was a bit stronger!
it creates great bubbles though.
